Front desk is so rude and dismissive. Valet and housekeeping were top notch which makes you feel like a 5 star guest. Front desk really breaks the experience though with their poor attitude toward guests.
Hotel in the end is as good as it staff and I cannot speak more highly of the Driskill. The restaurant is outstanding, the location excellent. Strongly recommended.
Pros. The room was very comfortable. We liked that we could do everything from eat, sleep and drink from the hotel.
Cons. The process in the bar were a little bit higher than we would have liked.
Pros. charming lobby great location (on 6th street) historic nice breakfast restaurant front porches outside tall ceilings historic markers great hot shower with good water pressure
Cons. tiny room dirty sink (hairs, old toothpaste) tv cabinet broken hot
Pros. We came for my 21st birthday on 6th street and I can't imagine picking a better place. They did everything they had to do to keep it classy and cool headed as it's located on one of the busiest and most popular tour attractions in Texas. We only live 45 mins away but Austin is my go to. I LOVE it there. I had friends come up and get ready in the room and hang out before and a little afterwards but only 4 of us stayed in the room and it was everything I could have asked for and more!!! The "haunted" back ground give this place an edge and with the timelessness of the Titanic, it makes the Driskill a MUST DO in terms of staying ATX. 10/10 recommend.
Cons. Nothing- I would change nothing
Cons. The valet was torn up with construction. The lobby and hallways literally smelt like a sewer. The mezzanine was stacked with old furniture. The once famous bar was loud noisy and also smelt like a sewer. The bathroom had chipped paint and a cracked floor length mirror. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The glass top furniture had dried paint drops on top from lack of a drop cloth.
Pros. Beautiful historic hotel. Great staff. Great central location. Food was amazing in Cafe and at the Grill. Dog friendly (they have doggie concierge kits with bed, bowls, treats and poop bags).
Cons. The petite rooms really are petite, so be aware of that when you book, but in all honestly, you're only there to sleep and shower so it's definitely not a deal breaker.
Pros. Had massive character and charm. Gorgeous lobby. Bar always always had a nice vibe.
Cons. There was an old musty odor in the bar and lobby. Reminded me of an old basement. Parking was $40/day.
Pros. Great food menu with healthy choices. Friendly staff. Nice tall ceilings in room. Great location. Nice decor for the holidays.
Pros. What a great stay! The staff was helpful and friendly from start to finish. It was like taking a step back in time without having to give up any modern conveniences. The price is worth all the little details.
