Pros:The personnel were nice and somewhat helpfulCons:1.They didn't have the car I rented 2. They upcharged me for getting the car I rented. 3. The vehicle we rented had in excess of 50kmiles, was in poor mechanical condition, tires way beyond safe4. Looked like it had been in a war zone..5. A friend rented a similar car from Thrifty, with 12k miles, they replaced a tire prior to renting, the insurance was 200$ less for more time. 6. Today when I went to return the car, they said I was a day late and wanted me to pay an additional day.Reviewed Jun 26 2018

Not worth the savingsPros:Ease of access, in-terminal pick-up and drop-offliCons:Limited locations, limited and old fleet. Arrived to the terminal and was “upgraded” to a larger vehicle, but the car was not clean, the AC couldn’t be regulated, not even turned off, windshield wipers did not function, oh did I mention the car was 5 years old and a gas guzzler? Tried to find a location to change the car but there were only 3 locations, one of them I went to twice, the first time the only clerk working had left home early and the second time the clerk didn’t show up to work. In the end I was able to have the car changed but it’s just too much of a struggle to just get a descent vehicle from the start. Will not use this company again.Reviewed May 29 2018

Relatively easy, not as cheap as it seemed onlinePros:Counter is indoors, the guy that checked out our vehicle was really nice. They did have a wifi hotspot for $10/day.Cons:It took quite a while to check out the vehicle and to turn it back in. Instead of the $5/day online, the cost was $28/day with taxes and required insurance. I expected that it would be more, but it's hard to compare prices with other rental agencies.Reviewed Jun 21 2017

The cost was 300% higher than expected and the car had problemsPros:The size of the car was able to accommodate our needsCons:No one spoke english. The cost was initially 450% higher than advertised. We got it down to 300% by agreeing to a $10,000 deposit. I have auto insurance on my travel credit card and through my regular car insurance, but it was not accepted. "Mandatory" Panama specific insurance is apparently required. Additionally, the car had a slow leak in a tire and a weak battery that left us stranded. Please ensure future price quotes include a list of any mandatory insurance. An internet search indicated this "bait and switch" approach to pricing is common in Panama.Reviewed May 29 2017

Ripoff ArtistsPros:Our car was fine, though not the one we requested.Cons:The problems began with an unstaffed desk. After waiting for a long time, we learned that our car was dirty because the car cleaners didn't arrive. One staffer did some basic cleaning while the other worked us through the intricacies of mandatory insurance in Panama. I had printed proof of insurance from my credit card, which only got me so far. When we returned the vehicle, they claimed a tiny chip in the windshield, which was undoubtedly already there when we claimed the car but too small to notice, as damage worth $150. Since we hadn't taken their basic insurance, we had to pay out of pocket. Total scammers. Deal with reputable carriers instead of these crooks.Reviewed Apr 21 2017

Buyer beware when car renting in PanamaPros:Great vehicle, Subaru Forrester. High clearance, all wheel drive and good AC. People at Ace were very friendly and helpful, but the huge price adjustment for mandatory insurance really tainted the whole experience.Cons:$50 + for car insurance is a scam. Your US company won't work, if you have an American Express card Amex will cover around 50% of the requirement, but rental agencies don't accept Amex. Heard several horror stories of people being charged hundreds of dollars for a "dented oil pan". When was the last time you inspected under the car? At Tocumen IAP in Panama City, Panama there was lots of construction requiring a 200 yard bag drag across rocks, boulders and mud to get to the cars. Guy inspecting the car with us recommended taking pictures of every scratch and dent for our own protection.Reviewed Mar 30 2017
