Pros: China Airlines has great planes, a courteous staff, and they are usually early to destinations. The food is edible, but not great. The seats on the larger planes for trans-pacific flights are comfortable enough, and it is always very clean. Plenty of overhead bag storage and free checked bags. Ticket counter people were helpful and fluent in English.
Cons: China's TSA equivalent is different than the US. They do not allow any electronic devices of any kind to be used on the flight. This includes kindles, and phones even in airplane mode. What a bummer, no podcasts for the 15 hour flight. They do have in flight entertainment in English and Chinese (and a few other languages) that includes around 5 new releases and some other classic and fun movies and TV shows. Some headphone jacks are faulty though. Be aware that Chinese government security will sometimes check flights out of the airport and not allow you to bring water or food on the flight. They sometimes do a random bag search at the gate.
