This is one of the only hotels in the area, so choices are extremely limited. That said, this hotel feels like somewhere that was excellent 25 years ago but has sadly fallen into disrepair. They appear to be building separate cabins and studios on the property, but it feels like that money could be better spent repairing and up-fitting the main structure. We stayed in one of their suites (that is oddly not listed on their web site...two are listed, there are three, we stayed in the third). The towels and robes were stained. Broken closer on the patio door. Broken hinge on the wardrobe door. Nothing on the patio--no chairs or table, just a patio. In the bathroom, the grout was stained and the fixtures were corroded. The WiFi was unusable in our room at the end of the building and the Wireless signal was all but non-existent (which is NOT their fault, but it speaks to the need for far better WiFi). The curtains were too thin, letting in a lot of light, and there were a few windows with no covering at all. And, while I know *all* hot water in Iceland is sulfurous, the odor was so strong here that I nearly gagged. None of our other accommodations had this issue, with some having me almost forget about it. Whether that's just Hotel Glymur or the entire surrounding area, I cant' say, but it was distinctive in either case. The host told us that breakfast was at 8:00 when we checked in. We were in a hurry to get the next day started, so we packed up and loaded the car, only to find folks happily breakfasting well before 8:00. Had the host given us accurate information, we'd have started earlier, had breakfast, and been on our way sooner. Of all the places we stayed in Iceland during an 8-day visit, this is the only one I was eager to leave.
