I woke up in the middle of the night to dozens of beetles crawling in my bed, on the floor, walls, and sink. No one was at the front desk so I called their sister hotel and got moved there. Demanded a refund and they told me no.
Quiet, free breakfast. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for and we payed less than $--- for the room. Can't say that I expected anything amazing, so there weren't any disappointments.
People very nice polite and helpful but room old and smoky so they sent us to another hotel newer but no air on
the price. I was happy with the staff attitude and how friendly they were.
The exterior of the building needs some work. I had other family come into town who picked the Holiday Inn Express to stay at because their outside looked updated and made the place look open. They said the American Inn looked dark and closed down.
Reasonably clean. WiFi worked very well.
The rear entrance needed repair for security, not that it's a huge issue in this town. Complimentary breakfast array was not complete for its posted schedule. At 8, its offering prompted us to walk next door to McDonalds.
Price was good
Outside of building is rotting (many rotten boards visible; water ran out of one room (not the one assigned to me)into corridor blocked with towels. Breakfast area small and dingy.
The front desk person was nice. Did not look at all professional, but he was polite and wanted to refund our money. We let them keep the rate for the night.
This hotel is is horrible disrepair, and just felt filthy from the time we walked into the check in area. The linens on the bed were so dirty that we were going to purchase sheets at the K-mart to put over the hotel sheets if we had to stay there.
