This hotel has really gorgeous landscaping outdoors. There are (I think) 5 pools on different levels and different shapes, one of which is a kiddie pool, Some are endless pools connected by waterfalls,, bridges, and ending at the Dead Sea. There is plentiful comfortable lounges on all these levels. It was a pleasure to walk outside and walk down to the Dead Sea.
The facilities at the Marriott Dead Sea are more than enough to please anyone. The staff are extremely helpful and this includes the restaurants, spa, pools, and front desk. The manager of this property has done it right and the location, not too far from Amman and right on the Dead Sea, is unsurpassed. The hotel is set up to accommodate business conferences, families, and couples but separately. You do not feel encroached upon by any of the other groups. A very relaxing and wonderful resort, enjoyed it and wished we had stayed there longer. Thevgrounds of the hotel are immaculate as well.

The Italian restaurant was very good, and the views from the one beach were wonderful.
The check-in process was extremely slow and took almost 40 minutes despite the fact there was only one person in line in front of me. The hotel -- despite my having a confirmation with the correct dates -- had mis-entered my arrival and departure dates into their system. As a result, they almost didn't let my car into the gate given that I wasn't on the reservation list, and check-in took a long time. Several staff members also had something of a poor attitude, treating me as if I was bothering them by asking for directions. One individual, who was handing out towels, spoke to me very rudely -- insinuating I wasn't a guest there -- since it took me a minute to find my "get a towel" card. (The fact that they give one towel per person -- and that you need to carry around a card to get it -- is ludicrous if they claim to be more than a three-star hotel.) There were several other little issues that made the experience somewhat unpleasant. One was the inclusion of a large service charge on every bill. In addition, the hotel had no real shop -- except a souvenir shop -- thus requiring that guests pay exorbitant rates for everything from a bottle of water to a piece of bread. In addition, as a steak lover, I was angry that they had shut down the steakhouse for Ramadan, which hardly seems justified on any religious grounds given that they continued to serve alcohol. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was atrocious and minimalist with floppy waffles and not even an omelet bar. Really, it was a three-star breakfast equivalent to what you would expect at a Holiday Inn Express...which is a decent characterisation of the whole hotel with the exception of the wonderful location and view. Shape up.
Our roomhad a nice terrace, spacious bathroom, and pullout sofa for the kids. The garden areas were beautiful! There were also several nice dining options, but they are overpriced. The pools were also nice. Being winter time, we stuck to the heated outdoor pool. There is a second outdoor heated pool with a great view of the Dead Sea, but it was closed for a private function. The hotel offers a supervised kid's play area for about $20 USD a day. You can drop off and pick up throughout the day as needed. \n\nNow for the cons... While luxury seems to be a goal, customer service is lacking. The staff was friendly enough, but they were simply unable or unwilling to address problems with a customer oriented attitude. Within minutes of settling in I spotted a roach in the room. This was the first of a few we found in our room. The response from staff was that they are a to be expected since I was on a ground floor room. We also had a roach crawling about at the main restaurant during a meal. ...
