I liked that the Divi was on the ocean. It was also close to shopping and the main town.
The hotel room was dirty. Since there was a casino on the grounds there are probably outsiders coming in to gamble. Therefore there are a lot of security guards that weren't friendly.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great amenities and did I mention free? Like: room upgraded to studio, early check-in and late check-out (5pm), cocktails, (soft)drinks for the kids, kidsprogramme.
balcony needed cleaning but it's a very dry island so dust settles anywhere fast.
Getting clean towels ( a quest)! Making you feel guilty about replacing a towel. Never any water pressure. Good luck taking a shower. The food tasted like road kill , and took forever to cook. The help never smiled, and acted like they were always doing you a favor. If you book a room at Divi, I'm sure it will not be ready when you show up! Will have to wait in the lobby until ready, Two hours, And not have anything in the lobby to drink. Management, and help is the worst!
We have stayed at the Divi twice and like its location, off-shore snorkeling, dive shop, and extra amenities like a small spa and on-site car rental. The Divi also has 2 pools, various room types, and 2 restaurants as well as a beach bar. Also there is a small casino for those who like to gamble. You also have easy access to the Woodwind which has a great crew who provides sunset crusises and snorkeling trips to Klein Bonaire. it is located within walking distance to town and many great restaurants. We will be back soon.
Really liked this hotel, snorkeling was great right at the hotel, we saw lots of beautiful fish, a water snake, and many other cool things, the protected beach was beautiful and very nice, we would go to this hotel again. The room was nice and clean except it smelled a little like urine right around the toilet base by the floor. Otherwise everything was great.
After reading a scathing review of this hotel the day before departure I didn't know what to expect. We arrived around 10pm and found the check in clerk very pleasant. We had an oceanfront room on the lower level which, although dated, was comfortable and clean but the mattress on the bed was too soft. Being rainy season, there were always puddles of water in the hallway. There is not a lot of beach on the property so I stayed at the pool while my husband went diving. The diving facility on the property was very good. The meals were expensive but very good. Breakfast buffet had continental and american style food. It was an easy walk into town through the back gate. At checkout there was 1 error on the bill regarding the mini-bar (bottled water) but was taken care of satisfactorily. Having to leave at 5am, the front desk reserved a cab for us the night before. It would be nice if the hotel had a van or something to pick up/drop off guests at the airport. It is a nice, quiet, laid back resort and I certainly would stay there again.
First off, they overcharged us for minibar on multiple days when they never had a stocked minibar in our room in the first place. I called to contest the charge. The woman on the phone was polite but uttely useless. We ended paying for it. \nWe booked the hotel through online travel, and it turned out to be the cheapest package all around. \nThe hotel is centrally located, close to the airport and town, walking distance to a convenience store. However, you still need to rent a car to go anywhere. They never changed the sheets we slept in for the week; which is ok with us since they made a point about water conservation. \nThe hotel beach has a small reef and a sandy beach and is quite charming, fun and safe for the children. I go back because of the steep discount, in addition, the room was right on the beach and had a breathtaking view. Check your bill carefully before your departure; I am still fuming at their carelessness and/or dishonesty.
My husband and I have stayed here twice for dive vacations. We would stay again. The resort is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly, efficient and flexible. The rooms were clean, if not a little dated. There's a dive shop right on site that provided excellent support for our avocation. The food was very good and varied. In addition to the standard menu, there were specials at lunch and dinner daily. The morning breakfast buffet was always a pleaser.
Great hotel and enjoyed its location and access to everything
