The 10 best hotels in Breckenridge

Discover the top hotels in Breckenridge handpicked by local expert Sarah Kuta.

The best hotels in Breckenridge make your vacation in the Rocky Mountains comfortable and relaxing. After skiing or hiking all day, you can rest up for the next day’s adventures while soaking in a hot tub, stargazing around a fire pit, or, my personal favorite, indulging in a spa treatment. Many properties offer high-end amenities like movie theaters, ski concierges, kid-friendly aquatics areas and upscale alpine décor, which means you can truly kick back and relax while on vacation here. Location is also important: you’ll want to stay at a hotel that makes it easy to reach this charming mountain town’s historic downtown, as well as the slopes of Breckenridge Ski Resort. I’ve been visiting Breckenridge for years, both in winter and in summer, and these are some of my favorite places to stay.

1.

One Ski Hill Place, A Rockresort

Address:

1521 Ski Hill Road

Price:

$261-1343/night

The best part about staying at One Ski Hill – especially during winter – is its location, which is within walking distance of several lifts on Breckenridge Ski Resort’s Peak 8. This ski-in/ski-out property is made up of condos in various sizes, from efficient studios to roomy four-bedroom units, all decorated in a chic, rustic style.
Proximity to the lifts aside, this hotel is great for families because it also has amenities like lounges for watching movies, a bowling alley, a game room, and laundry. Other handy features include storage for skis and a ski concierge to ensure you have a great experience.
After a day on the slopes, I also really enjoy soaking in the hotel’s indoor or outdoor hot tubs, or taking a refreshing dip in one of the indoor pools.

2.

The Ranahan by Vacation Club Rentals

Address:

557 Stan Miller Drive

Price:

$140-627/night

Whether you’re visiting Breckenridge for the first time or you’re a returning traveler, this hotel should be at the top of your list. It opened in 2020 and has already become one of the trendiest places to stay in Breckenridge.
The lodging sits on six spacious acres near the picturesque Blue River, and draws inspiration from Colorado’s Wild West ranching and mining history. You can stay in a one- or two-bedroom villa with your own private patio or balcony, which is perfect for enjoying an evening nightcap or a steaming mug of coffee in the morning.
Like other top-rated hotels in Breckenridge, this one offers its guests tons of amenities, such as an on-site bar and lounge, a ski and bike valet, a fitness center with Peloton bikes, multiple hot tubs, and an indoor/outdoor pool with a water slide.

3.

Crystal Peak Lodge By Vail Resorts

Address:

Price:

$278-981/night

Head to the base of Peak 7 for a getaway at Crystal Peak Lodge, a stunning condominium hotel designed to look like it belongs in a national park. Sip your morning coffee on your private balcony while taking in the panoramic vistas of the Rockies or unwind in front of your stone fireplace.
Then you can hop on the BreckConnect Gondola to be transported to Downtown Breckenridge for a little shopping, or strap on your ski boots and ride the Independence SuperChair to start a day on the slopes.
Crystal Peak Lodge has units ranging from one to four bedrooms, with full kitchens and warm, cozy decor. There’s plenty of room to spread out at this hotel, and great views are guaranteed no matter which condo you book.

4.

Residence Inn by Marriott Breckenridge

Address:

600 South Ridge Street

Price:

$171-607/night

If you prefer to be a little closer to the shops, restaurants, and bars of Downtown Breckenridge, consider the Residence Inn by Marriott Breckenridge, which is just south of the main core. This pet-friendly hotel has studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom suites. All the accommodation styles have modern kitchens and sofa sleepers, which help make them comfortable for longer-term stays.
My favorite place to hang out here is the pool and hot tub area, which looks out over downtown, with the slopes of Breckenridge Ski Resort in the background.
It’s also handy that the hotel has a free breakfast buffet for fueling up before the day’s excursions, which range from hiking and mountain biking in the summer to snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter. There’s also a welcoming cocktail bar, called Base Camp Lounge, where you can enjoy light bites and specialty drinks.

5.

Gravity Haus

Address:

605 South Park Avenue

Price:

$177-562/night

Gravity Haus offers some features you likely won’t find anywhere else in town – like a Japanese-style onsen, complete with a dry sauna and both hot and cold tubs – which makes it one of the most unique hotels in Breckenridge. This boutique hotel has 60 rooms designed in a modern, mountain-chic style; some are standard kings, while others have more creative configurations, like queen bunk beds.
I can assure you that Gravity Haus feels like a miniature community, with a co-working space, fitness classes, a coffee shop, gear demos, and a restaurant called Cabin Juice Eatery & Bar. You don’t have to be a member to stay here, but Gravity Haus does have a membership program that gets travelers discounts and benefits.
Breckenridge became the first Gravity Haus location when it opened in 2019, and the company is now expanding into other communities in the West.

6.

Grand Timber Lodge

Address:

75 Snowflake Drive

Price:

$138-582/night

This ski-in/ski-out property is one of the best hotels in Breckenridge for for groups or families traveling together for a vacation in the Rocky Mountains. Its residences – which range from studios to three-bedroom units – are spread among eight separate buildings, but have shared amenities and common areas between them, including pools, hot tubs, movie theaters, fire pits, a kids’ playground, and a fitness center.
After a day spent on the trails or slopes, treat yourself to a relaxing massage or skincare treatment at the on-site spa – I always feel rejuvenated after getting a hot stone massage or a signature facial here.
And no one can resist the smell of freshly baked cookies served each afternoon in the Grand Room, which, with plenty of comfy seating and a big stone fireplace, is the perfect setting for reliving the day’s adventures.

7.

Mountain Thunder Lodge

Address:

50 Mountain Thunder Drive

Price:

$216-509/night

From the outside, Mountain Thunder Lodge looks like a large, inviting log cabin. This theme carries through once you step inside, where you’ll find design elements like exposed beams, stone fireplaces, antler chandeliers, and plush furniture.
Mountain Thunder Lodge has studios, as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom suites. On top of that, it also features oversized townhomes that are perfect for soaking up every minute of a family vacation together.
It’s conveniently situated just a short walk from downtown and the BreckConnect Gondola, which can transport guests to the ski area in just a few minutes.
This location makes Mountain Thunder Lodge ideal for travelers who want to take advantage of Breck’s world-class ski and snowboard terrain, as well as its many shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, and other lovely spots.

8.

Marriott's Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge

Address:

655 Columbine Drive

Price:

$113-571/night

With a huge heated outdoor pool and stunning views from every window, Marriott’s Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge is an ideal home base for making the most of a mountain vacation. This spacious property has studios and one-bedroom villas, all decorated in a bright, cheery, alpine-chic style.
The hotel has free on-site parking, as well as a big fitness center with plenty of equipment for working up a sweat. It’s one of the best hotels in Breckenridge for kids and teens, since it offers fun, family-friendly activities, like a pool table, a ping-pong table, a foosball table, and an artisan’s workshop.
It’s perched between downtown and the ski resort, making it easy to access both throughout your stay. Best of all, this hotel is situated right on a small body of water called Maggie Pond, which is an ideal spot for watching the sunset or just enjoying a serene moment of calm.

9.

Breck Inn

Address:

11078 Highway 9

Price:

$147-226/night

With its cheery red and tan exterior, the Breck Inn is like a welcoming beacon for travelers who’ve ventured up into the Rocky Mountains. This adorable boutique hotel in Breckenridge has standard guest rooms with two queen beds, all designed in a bright and airy contemporary style.
If they’re available, I always try to book a second-floor room because they have private balconies with views of the mountains. The inn has no shortage of amenities and thoughtful touches: the massive stone fireplace in the lobby, for example, is perfect for cozying up with a good book.
Pet parents will appreciate not only the pet-friendly rooms available, but the fact that the Breck Inn donates a portion of the nightly pet fee to the local animal shelter. Visiting foodies will enjoy the continental breakfast and the daily wine and cheese gatherings.

10.

Grand Colorado on Peak 8

Address:

1627 Ski Hill Road

Price:

$275-2165/night

Grand Colorado on Peak 8 is one of the newer hotels in town, having first opened its doors during the 2016-17 winter season. Today, it’s known for being one of the best luxury hotels in Breckenridge, thanks to its abundant (and upscale) resort amenities, which include ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes, movie theaters, an ice-skating rink, and multiple dining options.
The property also has a gorgeous, grotto-style spa, plus multiple pools, and hot tubs – it even has a water slide. Choose between one-, two-, three- or four-bedroom residences that range in size from 900 to 2,600 square feet. Or, if you don’t need quite that much room, Grand Colorado on Peak 8 also has smaller “suite residences” that offer around 400 square feet of space.
One of my favorite parts about staying here are all the activities taking place at the hotel, which range from rooftop yoga to painting classes.
