The Hôtel Saint Antoine is located in the southern Alpine town of Briançon. Each guest room has a private bathroom and free Wi-Fi, and most have a balcony. A continental buffet breakfast is served daily and pizzas or a 'dish of the day' can be served upon request in the evening. There is also an on-site bar. The Hôtel Saint Antoine offers free private parking and guests can enjoy hiking and mountain biking in summer, and skiing nearby during the winter. The hotel is situated 400 metres from Briançon Train Station.
Friendly, helpful staff, adequate room, convenient location near railway station and not far from town centre. Great view of mountains from room window. Delightfully idiosyncratic ancient room lock which had been installed the wrong way round so you had to insert the key upside down and turn it in what would normally be the wrong direction.
The room description on Booking.com said the room had a toilet: it did not. The toilet was at the end of the corridor, down a short flight of stairs. I felt the price charged for the room reasonably reflected this, but was unhappy that the facilities were not what I believed I had booked.
the meal was OK
The room was terrible, cold - no heating in mid-Oct in the Alps(!) - a WC down the corridor?! Nowadays it would not qualify as a UK youth hostel.
Good simple hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. Recommended
no fresh croissants or pain au chocolate for breakfast!!
We had a very good stay at the hotel St Antoine. The owner is very friendly and had prepared a breakfast for us to have in our room for an early start the following day. The room was very clean and with a great view over the surrounding hills.
The hotel was situated at the top of a hill, it wasn't too steep and for younger backbackers would have been a doddle to walk to from the town. As it was, us two middle agers found it useful to walk our dinner off each evening and only really 'felt' the steep-ness after having walked down from the mountains for five hours the day before! Our room had no loo, which was unexpected, and not as inconvenient as I would have imagined before experiencing it, as we only shared the two toilets with other rooms without. Some rooms were ensuite and you get what you pay for. Ours had brill shower and sink, and was cleaned regly. We had a balcony (albeit old and in need of a coat of paint) and we did get a 'view' which we requested. Owner is delightful
When we arrived there didn't appear to be anyone about and if other guests hadn't arrived to let us in we would have been stuck outside unsure of what to do. Once inside, a board told us in French (ours isn't ery good) that our key was in the door and which room was allocated to us. The next morning at breakfast we asked for the pass number to enter, which was good for safety aspect. There was always a giant alsation around (I'm not fond of dogs) which didn't bother us, but it was obvious from dog hairs present that it entered the breakfast room and the bedrooms! France is different to England................
