I used to stay at the hotels in Manhattan when I visited NYC. Because of Hurricane Sandy, this time I chose the hotel in Brooklyn instead. This actually was my first time staying in the Missing Lantern. I was very pleased with my stay. This place is much spacious and economical compared to the hotels in Manhattan. I feel very cozy and comfortable with its unique decor and setting. I also like its using door security code instead of using keys/cards. It is much easier without carrying keys or cards around. The service is wonderful. Location is close to the subway, bus station, grocery stores, and restaurants. I will definitely stay at the Missing Lantern again. If you are an easy going person, like the cultural diversity, prefer a spacious room with full size kitchen, and also like to save big money, this is certainly a great place to stay.

So I think there are some things that could be improved about this, but overall, I think it's a great value as long as you know what you're getting when you book this hotel. Pros: 1) It was the most affordable place that I could find to stay in Brooklyn that was also easily accessible to Manhattan. 2) It's just a few short blocks away from a main subway route as well as multiple bus stops - in terms of ease of transportation (if you're a little savvy), it's great! 3) It comes with a kitchenette so it's easy to make coffee and breakfast in the morning or other meals if you want to while you're in. They also provide a hair dryer and an iron if you need one. 4) There are a few corner shops/grocery stores within a block or two. 5) The staff was very friendly, and so were the locals, even though we were warned (by some of the locals) about safety and being sure to not carry our camera's openly. 6) It's just a short bus ride away from some great sites like the Brooklyn Museum and the Brookl...

Well located for park, art museum and botanical garden, and subway. Quiet street.

Our room was on first floor. Bathroom was on second floor. Kitchen facility was on third floor. Not really a B&B at all. Payment schedule - we thought we had prepaid, but manager said we had only paid a 50% deposit and billed us for another 50%.

Everything was odd about this place. No signage. No front light. Deposit claimed instead of full payment. Facilities on three floors! Neighbourhood was intimidating.

Architecture of the house was appealing

Staff agreed in email exchange that I could drop off my bags around 1 pm, before 3:00 pm check in time. But no one was there, and I was left waiting two hours. No apology voice msg made after I left MD provided no warning promise would not be kept.

Beautiful house, but only one toilet, no waste baskets in rooms, and promises not kept. Because no one was there at the time agreed to in writing for an early check in, I wasted most of an afternoon. Unfortunately I can not recommend this bed and breakfast, and I will not use it again.

Quaint old Greystone convenient to subway with lots of original features. Great location, friendly owners

We were advised our reservation was for a room with a private bath-it had a shared bath - also as a B&B when it had a kitchen with a few food items provided.

Reasonably-priced vintage guesthouse across from beautiful park in Brooklyn, convenient to subways citywide

Free parking, ridiculously friendly staff throughout the hotel, complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations. Perfectly located in Crown Heights near 2 train lines. I'll stay here again if I need a hotel in Brooklyn.

The staff from front desk to housekeeping was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and quiet. Everything was very clean.

They seem to have an agreement with a car service rather than a taxi company and the car service did not accept credit cards and did not display a meter. But the service was prompt and friendly and the price was not out of line.

The parking area was well lit and secure, and free.

It was modern and clean. The staff was helpful and cordial.

Very poor location. Dirty area. Hotel should have offered shuttle to the subway or to Manhattan!! Needs exercise room and laundry area INSIDE the hotel!

Hotel is trying, but the location just kills it!

Incredible location. Wonderfully comfortable bed. Nice view of Manhattan from our room. Free breakfast was phenomenal.

WiFi had a little trouble one of the nights, but the staff was very friendly about it. The rooms, as is often noted, are VERY small, but you're in New York City! You shouldn't be doing anything in your room besides sleeping anyway!

Nothing

The hotel rooms are the smallest I've ever experience. There is about 18 inch clearance around the bed there is no desk or chair. The telephone is I the closet. The hotel does not have a vending machine and contrary to their ad there are no fridges

Prices are either the average per night price per room or first night of stay. You can select to display the prices with or without our estimate of taxes & fees (which may not appear on provider's booking page but will be charged at hotel checkout). Before you complete your reservation, verify the total cost on the provider's site. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
