The staff at the bar and restaurant are nice . The views from the balcony is nice.
I can count on a very little things I like at this hotel. I am very surprised for a world class hotel to be let run down like this hotel is. The rooms have a funky smell. Front desk customer service is poor and lack proper training. The pool by the gym is dirty and landscaping is very poor. The equipments at the gym is getting rusty and run down. People are so rude at this hotel it's beyond my comprehension with the exception of the ones from the bar and restaurant. I got detained for 15 minutes leaving the hotel asked to verify whether I was a guess at the hotel by a man who claimed he was security from CCTV. I was leaving the hotel , no crimes witnessed , yet, i was stopped to verify who i was. After having told them who i was and still that wasn't enough, It had to be confirmed with front desk to let me pass, WOW!!! I am stunned by such a treatment. Credit card machine down a few times, my credit card double charged and response time to address issue 48 hours and at the time of this writing I am still waiting to be refunded. I can instantly tell i have been charged twice by looking at my credit card statement but it takes the hotel 48 hrs to tell me anything about the charge and yet still, I am not sure what is being done to refund the charge. Don't expect the standards at this hotel in the Gambia to come close to any of the hotels that one might be used to in the US. This hotel also might be a little better than a few other places I have seen prior to deciding to stay here. With a more sophisticated staff and proper maintenance, this hotel can be turned around to the world class that the Sheraton hotels are. At the time of this writing the hotel sucks!
The staff (Front Desk, Breakfast team, Restaurant/Bar team, and my housekeepers) was exceptional. Always smiling and know your guest by name. The Front Office Manager is also very engaged.
Lobby was too hot, delapidating exterior facility, slow/sleepy security staff and loose excercise machines.
The place was BEAUTIFUL. Will go back.
The only issue I had was that there were too many mosquitos in my room due to the plants near by.
