Went from Dec 31 to Jan 5. We reserved a beachfront room at the St. Lucian, with the all-inclusive package. When we arrived we were told that we would be staying in the nicer resort next door, but without a beach front room. We also had to walk back to our the St. Lucian for all our meals/drinks as part of the all inclusive plan. The walking for the food was not too much problem. But the beach front room was what we wanted. We did get a nice room, just without the view. Food was good, (a curried chicken that was excellent). If we went back we would not do all-inclusive. There are plenty of restaurants in safe walking distance, and a coffee shop. Also, note that this resort is about 1 1/2 hour drive from the airport. It will cost $80 for the taxi ride. *We stayed at the Rex in Antigua before, we liked it better. **Do not use the travel/trip service in the hotel. We did two trips. The first to the fort/park (you can see from beach). We could have gotten a taxi ride cheaper, and gotten the same thing. The second trip was a jeep trip of the island. It forgot us, we missed parts of the trip due to this. The trip was good, the booking part was just messed up. You could book it yourself.
We enjoyed our stay at the St. Lucian very much. The staff were very warm and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the accommodations surpassed our expectations. We were greeted by a room full of fresh tropical flowers (on the bed and around the bathroom), and one of the best views in St. Lucia. Highly recommend.
Stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary in March 2011. Had a good time as the resort is directly on the beach and within walking distance to all of the Rodney Bay restaurants and nightclubs. The resort is next door to its sister resort, Royal. I didnt venture into Royal but note that that share the same beach, though there is more sand area between the Royal resort and the ocean than is the case with the St. Lucian. The St. Lucian has 2 restaurants: an Asian restaurant that was good and affordable and a second (buffet) restuarant that is open all day. I checked the menu on the buffet restaurant on a daily basis and was never quite motivated to try their food. Instead we walked over to Rodney Bay and had fish and chips at Lime, had wings at Wings and Tings, ate grilled and friend snapper at Red Snapper. Right outside the resort is a Mexican place that was good and a good chinese place on the road leading to Bay Gardens Beach Resort. We had breakfast at Spinnakers everyday as it was affordable. We took a taxi and climbed Gros Piton which took 1.5 hrs going up and 1.25hrs descending. The BEACH at the St. Lucian is great. Well worth it. The rooms are spacious, our's was a ground level room with a patio door leading directly to the poool and beach. They could use better shower curtains as out bathroom floor was constantly wet, not toilet pressure, no irons/iron boards in the room, we had to go up a flight to use an iron in the 2nd floor hallway. But overall it was a good choice. Good value for the price paid Great drinks were provided at the managers party and the hotel provided great entertainment every night. There are about 4 nightclubs (Upper Club, Delerious, Ceasars) and additional bars in the area if you want to dance and have a good time. There are also two malls for clothes shopping, two supermarkets for groceries or rum/liqour buying to save money. Free Wi-fi only in the lobby. Overall, great vacation. Will definetly go back. And open to staying he...
OUTDOOR AMENITIES WERE NICE. DID NOT LIKE IT WHEN THE CRUISE SHIPS SENT PEOPLE TO REDUIT BEACH. THIS CROWDED THE BEACH AND BROUGHT OUT ALL THE WATER SPORT HAGGLERS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS WAS MOST WEEK DAYS. BED ROOM WAS AVERAGE,HARD BEDS AND MORE MOSQUITOES INSIDE THE ROOM THAN OUTSIDE LEAVING ME TO BELIEVE THERE WAS SOME BREACH IN THE WATER LINE CONNECTION. I THINK IT TAUGHT US WHAT 3 STAR BUYS,
this is one of the more economically priced hotels you will find in saint lucia - considering its location. it is connected to the royal next door - just a walk away on a shaded catwalk. this hotel does have the swim up bar - which is pretty shabby - the other hotel next door's bar was better. the location is perfect and the staff is friendly and managed to keep the hotel room clean and organised. there is a little shop connected to the side of the hotel with all types of souvenirs etc, and a part that allows for various watersports - snorkelling around by the beach, water skiiing, para sailing, all that good stuff. the hotel itself doesn't have any great restaurants but, if you're feeling like really going fancy, i'd suggest taking a walk over to the restaurant next door called 'Chic' - somewhat pricy but the food and service i had was excellent. the connected beach itself is beautiful - not crowded, nor deserted... and very clean and well maintained. overall, i'd definitely visit again.
I arrived to St. lucia and it took almost 2 1/2 hours to get to the hotel. There is only one road and the road is curvy because of the mountains. The hotel is very old and needs to be renovated big time. When I arrived I was welcomed with rum punch. The staff at the St. lucian was very nice, they had to fix my tub. The safe box was free, and there are no umbrellas available but I asked for one at the front dest and I kept it with me until my departure. I even got an adaptor for my husbands CPAP machine, the one we took did not work. My complain is I bought the all inclusive package and is not really an AI. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet style and the hours are set, so if you are hungry or want to snack a little you have to go out of the hotel. Another thing I had an ocean view room and I was worth everydollar, just one thing they have no elevators, so it was a little tiring to go up and down to the third floor. Men do have to wear collared shirts and long pants for dinner, The island is gorgeous and eventhough I traveled the week of July 8th rainy season, really what rain. we had the best beach which is Reduit and we had a very old hotel that serves the best lime daiquiris ever, This is the Caribbean where Rum is the king, Cheers!.
My husband and I stayed 6 nights here. The Ocean-view was absolutely beautiful. Easy access to the beach is a big plus. However, there is no elevator so if you have a room on the 3rd floor, prepare to climb a lot of stairs. We had the all-inclusive package. I had mixed feeling about that. The food is not that great but it is convenience. Hated the wristbands they gave us - a bright pink color that drew unwanted attention. The restaurant staff was peculiar, especially during breakfast. I did not think they were really awake. Staff over all is not that friendly. I felt like we were bothering them by being there. Warning: you need to dress for dinner. Gentlemen are required to wear pants. No shorts allowed in the on-site restaurant. Would stay here again for the convenience but not for the staff. Nightly entertainment was okay.
We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. We were here for 11 days and never ran out of things to do. Shopping and dining within walking distance. Excellent staff. Facility is older, but maintenance has been kept up. Entertainment every night in the hotel lobby. Shops and boutiques right on the premises.
Nice hotel, good beach, quiet, friendly staff. Spacious gardens for relaxation. Meals very adequate. Island is lush green, good roads, efficient and cheap bus service.
