Pros:
The Hertz staff at the Fairport facility was very friendly and helpful. Car was in nice shape, nice to driveCons:
To avoid paying an extra fee to extend rental you cannot use the local Hertz counter, you have to call the national number. Had to wait for help and then they were not helpful. The Kayak deal was great at $21. per day for the week, but Hertz wanted over $40 per day to extend for two days with fees. Did not extend. Foolish of Hertz to lose the extra rental6.0 Okay

Pros:
The car was fine.Cons:
We waited 50 minutes for the employee to arrive. He stated he overslept and offered no apologies. With a 12 hour drive ahead of us we were especially annoyed. Upon return, I waited an hour to drop off. Never saw anyone. Eventually left the keys on the desk and left. Later, I started to wonder if that was an okay choice. I called Hertz corporate and was told that office wasn't open on Saturday. I was never informed of that when I rented the car. Also, the door was open! Not a great impression of this company.2.0 Poor

When we arrived the car company wasn't open or available so we had to rent another car from AVIS. Car should not have been advertised with being so remote to airport and limited hours of operation. We asked Hertz for a refund and they never got back to us. Very disappointed in customer service and offering.4.0 Mediocre

Pros:
The vehicle was fantastic, and that's about the line between good and bad.Cons:
Upon pickup, was informed that my debit card had been declined, my pre paid rental for which money had already been withdrawn, was denied, requiring a second person to provide a form of payment requiring an additional fee for having an additional driver. Then upon return of the car I receive a call asking me why I changed the tire on the vehicle, and being informed that there was a fee for that as well. Even though I didn't change the tire, the vehicle was rented missing a hub cap. I went on my lunch to go rectify this issue using my copy of the pre rental vehicle inspection form, to find that the office was closed during hours it was stated to be open, and I had informed them I would be in and they had said they would be there. All and all was a bad experience,2.4 Poor

Cons:
This experience went from good to bad really quickly. I booked a car for pick up at 9:00 AM last week and arrived punctually. When I arrived, the car wasn’t ready yet and the staff member I was speaking to (who was very friendly, I must add) assured me that my car would be ready shortly. I ended up waiting for about a half an hour until they finally told me that my car was ready. I went out to have a look around it and the worker told me that the driver’s seat was a little bit wet considering that he had just washed it and that he’ll leave some towels in the car that I can sit on. From his description, I figured that it wouldn’t be a problem and that there was only minor wetness, thanked him and put my bags in the car to start on my way. Immediately as I sat down on the seat, wetness started soaking through the bottom of my pants. Knowing that I had a 90 minute dive ahead of me, this wasn’t going to be acceptable. I went in to the office and explained that it wouldn’t be possible for me to drive this car with a sopping wet seat and asked if they had a couple of bath towels that I could borrow instead (the towels they gave me were small, thin towels used for wiping windows). They didn’t have any other towels, but offered me a different car altogether, so we went out to do the necessary inspection on this other car. I’d like to add that two of the workers were talking about this specific car to each other earlier on in the office and one of them said that he had the understanding that the car shouldn’t be rented out and the other worker said that it should be fine. I asked the worker if this car was suitable for being rented out and she assured me that it was. Anyway, we walked around the car together to mark where the damages were. I was amazed to see how many imperfections this car had. There were dents or scratches literally on every side of the car. Not only that, but it was blatantly evident that a thief had tried breaking into the driver’s side door at some point considering that there was significant damage along the driver’s side door and in the doorframe. When I opened the door, I was in awe at how filthy the interior of the car was. There were significant stains on ALL seats of the car and looked like it hadn’t ever been cleaned before. Because I was already pressed for time, I reluctantly accepted the car and was out of the parking lot 45 minutes after I had arrived to pick my car up. As soon as I had left the parking lot, the digital gas gauge had already gone down one bar. Soon after that, I noticed that the car had alignment issues and constantly pulled to the right side. Overall, I had this car for 10 days total and had no pleasure in driving it. Upon returning the car to Hertz, I explained my dissatisfaction to them and the only response I received was a simple “sorry”. Needless to say, I certainly won’t be doing business with Hertz again, because, as their name suggest, doing business with them really Hertz.
