Surprised charges, car was damaged and had bad axels. Lots of noise was being made when driving. It rained a couple times during our trip and the car’s windshield wipers were old and obstructed our view while driving when we tried wiping. We thought we were going to get into a major accident. When there was dirt on the windshield and tried wiping it clean there was no water put in the car. We actually had to throw water from our water bottles to help us clean the windshield. It was an overall dangerous experience. I would not rent again.

Pros:

Didn't have a car for me despite reservation. Apparently this is common. Highly annoying and disruptive start to a trip. Arrived so late there's weren't even cabs or Ubers. Was able to hitch a ride to town with a friendly local. Otherwise not sure what I would have done.

There was no agent present at the airport and no car so nothing to like

Cons:

Reservation had been confirmed, received three e-mails regarding the confirmed reservation. Arriving at the airport, no agent available, no local phone numbers did answer. Avis service desk was not able to provide assistance. Had to take a taxi and book a hotel. Next morning, no local phones being answered, checked again with Avis service desk and been informed that there were no cars available at this location. This can be rather disturbing if you have obligations to meet and are depending of transportation. No explanation or apologise received from the side of Avis. For me this is a huge middle finger towards clients.

They force you to buy insurance even though you’re covered by your credit card ( if applicable) The car was okay but had a lot of scratches and dings around it ( specially the front bumper )and when I returned the car the guy try to blame me for a damage in the lower right side in the bumper even though it was already marked when I received the car in the beginning, also the key fob didn’t work so I have to manually lock and unlock the doors of the car

I booked the van 3 months before my vacation. They told me that the van was not available and that there was nothing they could do. I did my check in a day before to confirm. Had confirmation number and everything. I also called a week before but no one picked up. Horrible experience. Will never book again

Alamo did not honor the vehicle level i had reserved. I reserved a Kia Rio or equivalent and when i got there i was offered a Kia Picanto an told me that they were the same level. Defínete Kia Picanto is a smaller vehicle. They told me that if i wanted a Kia Rio i had to pay an upgrade. My reservation clearly said Kia Rio and i show my reservation. I didn’t pick up my vehicle and had to rent a vehicle with another agency. It was a very bad experience and had to spend more than what i had planned. I saw other custommers having the same issues, not a good practice.

I just liked the staff was available and ready on time both during pick up and drop off.

Cons:

The car they gave me was a Hyundai smal car with mechanic transmission. Very uncomfortable and small. I understand economic cars are economic but this was extremely below the economic average.

The Salvadoran mandatory private liability insurance of 14.99$/day needs to be shown in the booking price, our rental price more than doubled because of it!

They did no have the SUV as I indicated. I made the reservation months ago. When I went to the pick up center I had to wait ½ an hour. The car itself was ok. There were a lot of dents and scratches and the underside had something that was hanging off. It was being held by a piece of rope.
