As mentioned before, the hotel is a no-frills property; therefore the on-site amenities are convenient but limited. There is a seasonal outdoor pool available for recreation and relaxation. There is also a restaurant and 8,000 square feet of event facilities for weddings and events. While there is only one restaurant on-site, there are multiple options within a short distance from the hotel.

Pros:Easy to get to. Free parking at the hotel.
Cons:Roomy smelled musty. Furnishings and carpet were old and in poor condition. Staff was non-existent. Hotel smelled strongly of cigarettes and weed.

Pros:The free shuttle service to Chicago was awsome, I didn't have to pay for a cab, though tips are appreciated. The breakfast was very good and discounted but not free.
Cons:The air conditioner didn't work, the toilet wouldn't flush, the décor is dated from the 70's, TV is over the air. Two star material at best!

Pros:Location was good for what we needed. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean but a little rough around the edges.
Cons:I probably wouldn't stay here again. I switched from another hotel in the area to save some money. I would not have paid the price I did if this hotel was in a different location. Overall it was comfortable and relatively clean. Definitely a unique property. Food at the cafe was not something I would go back for.

Pros:There is no other hotel in the Hyde Park/U Chicago area that is under $100/night. The hotel is within walking distance of the University on the north side of Hyde Park, and has a free shuttle to the University that runs three times a day. It was clean. Front desk staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. The hotel sits on Lake Shore Drive so there is a view of the lake; unfortunately the hotel room windows do not face it.
Cons:The security door did not latch unless you pulled it shut behind you. The toilet leaked every time you flushed it. The shower head squealed every time you took a shower. The bathtub plug leaked, so a bath required constantly running water. The vanity light took 5 minutes to turn on after you flipped the light switch. Staff left odd assortments of towels, some days too many for needs and other days didn't leave washcloths at all. You need to Google Map Lake Shore "Cafe", not "hotel", to find the correct location of the lobby entrance. It is actually around the corner from the LaQuinta Inn that also shares the same building. Skip the cafe and walk 1 1/2 blocks south on Cornell to Bridgeport Coffee House for your breakfast; you will be glad you did.

Cons:Sheets had bugs in them, plumbing backed up for tum and toilet, low water pressure in the shower

Cons:The doors from the other guests were too loud! You can here slamming of the front door by rude guests. Not the hotel's fault but maybe a simple courtesy notice would suffice.
