The Le Meridien Dom Hotel is located in the heart of the city adjacent to the magnificent Cathedral from which it gets its name and just opposite the rail station. The fair ground is only a ten minute walk away. Alternatively there are many trams and trains going there from the main train station which is only a three minute walk away. The Le Meridien Dom Hotel is only one stop to the fair ground. This is one of Europe's most distinguished and elegant hotel's. The building is of classical design its terraces overlooking the historic Roncalliplatz a pleasant pedestrian precinct. The low lighting and the button-backed leather chairs of the entrance hall offer a reassuring club-like welcome. The lobby leads to a wide and impressive marble stairway with an elaborate balustrade. This is without doubt the most sophisticated and classic hotel in Cologne - with the opening of the Ustinov Bar the hotel and Cologne have one more attractive meeting point. Guest rooms are individually furnished with attractive period pieces embellished with nineteenth century prints and etchings. Most of the rooms as well as the bathrooms are very large and most of them are now renovated with Art and Techdesign so as to be on the highest level of technical equipment with comfort to the guests. In summer the pleasant terrace overlooking the square offers a nice balance of classic French and German dishes. The walls are of gleaming tortoise shell with wall lamps in the shape of small glass Japanese figures standing amid glass blossoms within pretty little brass pavilions.
