Location Extra daily resort fee. No slippers or free bottled water for Marriott member. Valet parking not answering phone. Only valet parking available. Bathroom cabinetry old and worn out. Poor water pressure for shower.
The location was nice. Don't book this room thinking you will be getting the price you see. It will be about $100 more a night than the listed price. There is an extra fee for everything. I am just waiting for the 2 weeks after checkout fee because I am sure it's coming.
It's a beautiful hotel perfect for weddings and events. I was very happy with the upgrade to an executive suite. It's a first come first serve policy for free 2 hour bike rentals but I wish they had more than two smaller bikes out of the several bikes they had.
Very comfortable bed and bedding. Bed and view of the harbor.
Location Resort fee. Valet parking not answering phone. No alternative for overnight parking besides valet of $37/night. No free bottled water for Marriott silver member, nor included in resort fee. No refrigerator. No slippers.
Beautiful view, great amenities. Mattress not as comfortable as you'd expect from a resort of this caliber.
Thank you to Nicole at the front desk. Awesome Babymoon.
I like a customer service. Great service. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We will come back. N/A
I enjoyed the hotel because the location is spectacular and dana harbor is nearby. This is a great weekend getaway because of the numerous shops and restaurants as well as activities that people could enjoy! I love the options of renting kayaks, paddle boats and paddle boarding. People can even go whale watching. I wishes the pools were open later, at least till 10:00 pm ( to swim ). I also wish the trees in the park didn't block the view of the harbor, but I suspect that's a city thing. I just remember about 10 years ago a friend of mine married at the hotel. I remembered the spectacular view of the boats sailing in the background . The trees from lantern park block the view now.
I have religiously stayed at this Laguna Cliff Marriott for close to 20 years . But on several occasions , this last trip was the worst , where your check out experience ruins the wonderful memories of the entire stay . Most customers would never come back , but the reason I keep coming back only to encounter check out nightmares . For instance . I book my room there through Kyyack who send my reservation and payment on to Expedia , who email me my confirmation number and itenerary for my 2 nights. Because of a flight councilation by AA.com I am forced to just move my 2 nights forward 1 day and notify both Expedia and the Laguna Cliff's , and they both confirm no problem no change in rates . So at check out my $159.00 all inclusive rate per night had changed a little less than $900 including my payment to Expedia for one night , and because the airlines had lost my luggage and my money and medicines and all my clothes I didn't have sufficient funds to pay the inflated rate and refused to allow me to pay by check even with my bank president on the phone garrateeing available funds . So I had told the manager I had $300 in cash for an emergency , to which she said use your emergency cash or don't leave the property . So I left with $25 dollars to get to San Jose to meet with Ebay and then back to LA for my flight home . I was able to sell my $1200 iPhone for $550 to enable me to have a place to sleep the next night , and in Silicon Valley $550 doesn't get you much of a room . AA.com still has not found my luggage with my billfold medicine , keep in mind I was just recovering for 2 complete hip replacements . So with no money to drive back to LA to turn my car into Hertz and fly home , I was forced to turn my car into Hertz at the San Francisco International Airport which changed my Hotwire rate of $10.95 per day for 6 days into an $895 dollar charge that included the payment I had already paid Hotwire for the entire week . Finally at AA.com's counter I explain I have no options , no money to drive back to LA to fly home and that I pleaded with her to change my ticket at no charge to fly back from San Francisco to home and she reluctantly agreed but only if I took the red eye . I explained I had not eating almost 2 days , she said do you want this deal take it or get out of my line and contact AA.com/Customer Relationships . Next
This hotel caters to their guest needs, whatever they can do to make your stay fantastic, they will do it. No matter what time it is, they will accomodate! Their rooms are clean, their bed and pillows are comfortable. When they turn down your bed at night, you feel more like home.
We really enjoyed our stay there. They went out of their way to make sure that our room was everything that we wanted. The service was incredible, always so warm and welcoming. We will definitely be going back for a longer stay.
What a beautiful hotel! The views are breathtaking! The staff was amazing, very accommodating, and highly service oriented. The flowers that greet you in the lobby were innovative arrangements, beautiful to view, and lovely to smell. Our room was so clean, and all of the essentials were there. The bathroom was highly functional for 2 -- separate room with toilet, and double sink so that 2 can get ready at the same time. I loved our balcony, and used it every day to read a book, or enjoy the view. The restaurants were fabulous -- they have thought of everything. The outdoor restaurant was my favorite. If you forget your sunglasses while the sun is setting, they have extras. If it is chilly once the sun goes down, they have blankets. There is just one change that I would request in our room, perhaps others. The air conditioner was probably the noisiest that I've ever heard -- each time it 'kicked on' it would wake us all through the night. There must be quieter technology available, and something to consider if there was ever a renovation. I can't wait to go back there!!!
Came here for a weekend getaway with my lady. From the moment we arrived we were very impressed with everything. Location is beautiful - hotel sits on a cliff overlooking the Pacific. We just relaxed and enjoyed our time in the Laguna area. Treat yourself...stay at the Ritz.
I had been looking for a hotel in which we could stay for a long weekend. This was one of 2 hotels recommended by a family member, and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our favorite spot was the outdoor patio/bar which we enjoyed the beautiful weather and views.
Absolutely the best! Best in location, features, staff and food. Nothing can compare!
I went with two girlfriends and the hotel was all we could ask for and more. Our room had an amazing ocean view with huge fluffy beds and a large flat screen tv. Both pools were very nice as well as the jacuzzis. The restaurant was good but pretty pricey. I would stay here again!
We have stayed many times at the Ritz Laguna, but since undergoing a complete renovation its truly spectacular. The ocean views are to die for.
The entire hotel staff knew my name from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was friendly and everything from the food to the room was excellent. I enjoyed the pool and the room was big and spacious but comforting and welcoming at the same time. I'll definately stay again.
Staff @ Ritz LN are amazing-anything you wish at anytime can be yours. Club level (hob-nob w/the rich & famous) is worth every penny! Stayed at a few other RC properties & this one is by far my fav-not as stuffy as other Ritz-mix high class w/CA beach culture. Gorgeous spa; great products and a knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend wine flights at Eno for a fun time-avoid chocolate flights (rip-off) but the cheese & olive flights are great! Heading back for a week(yes, loved it that much;o) Bottom line-you will come back giddy as a school boy(or girl)!
Beautiful hotel. Nicely renovated. Service was ok. Miss the service touches from the St. Regis. Seemed understaffed at front desk. Breakfast at Aveo restaurant overpriced and ok, not wow. Was offered a 'flash sale' upgrade at check in which felt awkward for a luxury hotel.
How clean the rooms were & the value for the money
Noise from street
Breakfast is included. Beds are good enough. Almost no water pressure in the shower.... seriously, it's awful. The room smelled like they just spray Febreeze all over the place instead of opening the window every once in a while. The breakfast food was mostly good enough, but nacho cheese inside of an omelette? Such a gross surprise. I was also unplesantly surprised to see that i had to pay $10 a night to park in super tiny spaces.
I have never written a review, don't usually have time or really notice the little differences between hotels. Well this was an exception....The hotel is under major construction, which was not mentioned anywhere. It was literally drywall and dust everywhere. After the check-in attendant telling me "well we tell everyone who calls in to book a room with us about it, you must have booked with an affiliate" me and my fiance decided to stay anyway. As we waited 7 minutes for the elevator, we started doubting our decision, then we got to the room....no sheets, couch was open, cushions everywhere scattered throughout the room, and the toilet hadn't been flushed. I called the front desk and they said they would bring up keys for another room, as we waited, which took a while, since the elevator wasn't working, a nice employee Irene showed up. But in the meantime we booked a room at another hotel in the area. Well, since our wedding will be in the area in 8 months, we know one hotel that will not be on the recommended list of places to stay.
liked the location and staff Attention to detail was missing ( fresh cookies on arrival, coffees and toiletries replaced for day 2, room service tray pick up)
Room was nice for the money, we had a nice view of the ocean. They remodeled the lobby, it looks nice. Air conditioning did not work at all., shower door opened out, so you couldn't enter or close bathroom door. Made using the bathroom inconvenient. I'm surprised anyone would approve that.
Location was very convenient and close to beach Room was very noisy ... Hot ... Air conditioner sounded like it was going to blow up
The location is across from the beach (although not why we were there) and the staff was nice. They have great marketing. Put the beautiful renovated rooms first on the website. Then when someone gets duped into paying $225 A NIGHT, they check in and realize they are getting one of the old, dirty, dilapidated rooms where the AC doesnt work, the mattress is worn and slants inward and there is mold and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. Perhaps you should be up front about what room you are getting at booking. Or maybe adjust the price so if you get an unrenovated room it reflects the motel like quality room you are receiving. The staff was nice and the renovated lobby was pretty. No doubt it will be a Hilton quality hotel by the end of the renovations.
Location is great! Friendly staff! Good vibes at the rooftop bar and food was good! Parking prices are ridiculously high!!! Self park and valet should not be the same price an. Regardless $22 dollars a night is offensive!! Layout of room was a little awkward with the bathroom being super close to the bed and the shower door almost hitting the bathroom door... Otherwise room was nice!
The Staff was really great!! So helpful and courteous at check in. Hallways third floor smelled bad. Water damage or something. But the room was lovely
Love the hotel. Staff was very attentive. Just surprised when I received such a big charge for such a cheap toothbrush. For $200 a night I would have expected it to be free. Expensive dollar store toothbrushes.
We enjoyed how close the hotel was to the beach. Nothing
Location was ocean view Old Hotel and poor amenities. Staff (an asian couple) made us feel as if they are doing us a favor by letting us stay in the hotel that we paid a fortune for. This looks like a owner managed hotel where they try to cut costs for everything. Very skimpy on breakfast and they try to manage the breakfast so that you don't eat much.
The staff was friendly, room was clean and well-appointed. The free continental breakfast was decent. It's right by the beach. AC in our room didn't work. No pool. Our ocean view room was actually right next to a the highway and an Amtrak line that woke us up at night.
View Ac didnt work it had a portable cooler so it was hot, ants
great views, good service. try the sushi place just next door, best sushi ever!!!
The hotel was beautiful and the view was spectacular. There was a OK breakfast in a beautiful setting. Nice touches such as wine and cheese every evening. And cookies cooking every afternoon. Our balconey was on the side near a restaurant which hosted a wedding one night and party another. They were loud and we could even hear through closed door.
We loved the location. the view and breeze from the harbor were lovely. The staff was very helpful and cheery. we enjoyed the breakfast and visiting with the others when drinking wine with snacks downstairs. The water flow in the shower was a little weak, but it worked.
A great start to our Drive Holiday...easy to find, very apple-piesy, and sumptiously comfortable.
No ocean views
We cooked, our room was a good space near ammenities, the staff was helpful with all our questions. We had a great stay in San Clemente - take advantage of the beach trail!
Old, tired facility. Ants and waterbugs in bedroom. Rude front desk staff. Limited "business center". Pathetic restaurant. $3.50 for a cup of coffee!
Close to beach. On site restaurant had good breakfast menu, reasonable prices. Noise from interstate. Noise from neighboring rooms came through walls.
Enjoyed the affordability and the spacious area! Came fully loaded with a kitchen, living room and bedroom has private doors
Closeness to the beach! Housekeeping was good. Pool area is nice too! Rooms are comfy. Location of the Inn is bueno!! Rooms are a drab brown lol. Two years in a row been construction...it's not an inconvenience, just not pleasing to the eye ha.
this was the best hotel i've ever stayed at. i had my 10 year old grandson and lots of games to play right there. great place!!!!!!!!!!!! very nice halloween displays. loved it all!!!!!!!
Location, size of room, friendly staff carpet was stained in multiple spots, floor felt greasy
Convient to my son'e house. none
It is easy access to the beach and close to where my son lives.
Staff are very good
Good value. Nice sized room. Wish we could have stayed longer to check out the rest of the facilities!
The pool was really nice. Rooms are not modern. They overbooked on our class of room so we had to go with an "upgrade". It was a two queen room with a gross jetted tub. We would prefer a king with our infant.
The price was nice, I liked that they had a light breakfast but this is about it. 1st the 2 beds in our room were so hard we didn't get any sleep. I couldn't wait to get home so I could finally sleep. The beds felt as hard as the table in our room. 2nd the air conditioning in our room was out. I was told because it was humid that day that is why the air conditioner was broken. I was so close to driving home that night we stayed. We drove over an hour to stay here and the other 3 ladies with me didn't want to get in the car and drive home Saturday night. When I asked the front desk about the air conditioner and the bed she pretty much said "oh well". In my mind she made me feel like well I got your money and you can leave if you want. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
Really not much to dislike. It was quite, comfortable, close to everything and reasonably priced for the areas. The only issue was the jetted tub did not work or hold water the best, which was really a minor nitpick, otherwise it was great.
Clean room at a good price. Breakfast exceeded expectations!
The location is good. The breakfast is good, a lot to chose from. My second day there however, they closed the door 4 mins early and all I wanted was a banana but couldn't get one. One of the beds in the room had crumbs when I pulled the the comforter back. The temp is locked so I was cold the whole stay since I couldn't get the heat going. Parking is really limited. I was there for business and checked out at 9:30 am. I left the city at 7pm. Got home and realized I left my keys there. The staff had them yet never attempted to get a hold of me to let me know. That's pretty bad customer service. So I get drive 2 hours each way to go pick them up.
Great location. Comfortable clean living area. We had fun hanging out on the deck. Bathroom definitely needed an upgrade and it wouldn't hurt to clean under the mat in the tub once in a while.
I chose this place because it was close to where I needed to be early the next morning. And because it had a pool and was close to the beach in case I wanted to take a dip. It delivered on all those. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking lot big enough for me to park my car with trailer while not causing problems for other guests.
Close to Camp Pendleton. My son is a Marine! Close to freeways Clean hotel Continental breakfast was good
I loved the free breakfast - so many tasty options! I also loved that the bath products are Bath & Body Works. The whole place was very clean and quiet; I really loved staying there. There isn't a ton of lighting in the bathroom, so it's a little dark while showering. It's not a problem at all but that's my one minor complaint about the room.
Nice pool, awesome bed, enjoyed my stay! Couldn't take a bath because it was always draining the water :(
From check-in to check-out this Holiday Inn exceeded my expectations of what I would expect in a hotel. Guri (excuse the misspelling) at the front desk made my check in process and my stay a 5 star experience. Ian on the Night Audit made the evenings and early mornings exceptionally outstanding and comforting. I will always look recommend and stay at this location after this experience. Thank you all for making my stay so enjoyable. The location is a bit strange and off the map. But once located, it is easy to find. One recommendation I would make is to communicate when guests have a late checkout. On several occasions I had a 2pm checkout which was approved and verified with management but yet the house keepers walked in at 11:00-1:00pm. Communication is key in situations such as these.
Staff was very helpful, rooms were very clean, excellent breakfast included. Also liked having refrigerator/coffee/microwave in room. Even though right next to the highway, we did not hear traffic noise or any noise from other rooms.
The room was very comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast. We forgot some shoes in the closet on a Thursday. I called the next day to ask if they had been found and they said they did not have them. We had to go that way on Friday and stopped in to ask again. Front desk clerk remembered my call and claimed they were still missing. We asked to talk to housekeeping and she found the shoes for us. Don't give up after one call if you forget something. Also, while they claim to be pet friendly, there is no grassy area for them.
The rooms are clean, and the staff was terrific. The front desk staff and the house cleaning staff were outstanding. A little hard to find. A bigger sign near the road would be helpful.
location for my needs in this trip to Orange County Indifference of staff to several issues. The lights in the hallway to my room were burned out, making for a dark walk to the room. The light over the shower in the bathroom was also burned out. Nothing was done about either issue. No extra signage to aid in entering the property due to road construction. It was very difficult to figure out how to get to the motel from the road.
This hotel has a good location. The side away from the freeway was quiet. Imagine that the side facing the freeway would be noisy. This hotel is difficult to get to because of road construction. That's not the hotel's fault. My room had several drawbacks that would have been easy to fix. I told staff about them, but nobody seemed to care: 1) The computer desk was useless because it had no available electrical outlets. How difficult would it have been to put in a lamp with an electrical outlet in the base? 2) The A/C unit was old, noisy, and difficult to control. It blew out the curtains above it. How difficult would it have been to put in a modern thermostat, and a plastic deflector to keep the curtains in place? 3) The microwave was impossible to use on any setting other than full power. 4) The message light on my phone blinked constantly. How difficult would it have been to supply instructions for how to turn it off?
Front desk was fine. Very friendly. But they had a problem giving a room. Cleaning guys out side. Very rude and make me uncomfortable. They were not friendly and unwelcoming .
Not much left at 9:30am, came back at 1:30, room not touched. Left at 2:00 pm returned at midnite, still dirty I'll never stay there again!!!! House keeping sucked.
I loved the spacious room and the clean bathroom. The flat screen tv was a nice touch too No complaints
Free breakfast & coffee Physically, the building looked worn
I thought the hotel was excellent and will stay there again when I am in that area
Just off the highway ... Elevator very slow ... traffic noise all night ...
We were grateful that we were given a room which was convenient to our RV that we parked in the hotel parking lot.
We had a nice stay here. It was clean and we were very pleased.
Has agreat location and the staff is very friendly. Very Noisy, We could hear our neighbors on the room above us walking until 3 am and then at 6.30 or 7 people going down the hallway, you can hearing them talk like they are inside the room. Badly isolated walls.
The Holiday Inn has everything someone needs for a quick weekend trip. Poo/jacuzzi, big rooms, friendly staff, and the location is perfect for walking into downtown San Clemente.
The young man at the front desk was courteous and diligent. He had a wonderful welcoming smile. He also came to the room to fix the TV which had no reception. The location is right off the freeway so easy access to beach and campground or any amenities There was an odd odor everywhere. Damp. Tiny bathroom and tub. AC was so loud. It took over an hour to get the tV fixed. To be fair it was very busy at the front desk but he was working by himself.
I liked the Jacuzzi tub, and that's... IT!!! I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me... Well, maybe if they paid me $20.00 and hour to stay for a night. This place sucks. It's next to the freeway so there's no relief to the droning on of tires on road... The staff was less than helpful, I had to practically yell at the guy to do his job which he was very inept at doing. As twenty minutes into the yelling process I finally got the room we booked, and we enjoyed what was left of our evening... But the bed, sheets, and pillows came from Wal-Mart or Big Lots which is not the $260/night quality I expected. I expect that of about $100/night hotel. This place has ZERO value. Go here if you like burning your money.
Location location location. Clean premises amd rooms, skywalk to the beach located close, very helpful front desk, and handicapped room was perfect. The late check out fees.
The people. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and seemed genuinely glad we were there. I thought breakfast was included and we did not see any. Perhaps it was moved to a new location and we did not know.
Fantastic location. Hotel was great.
Overall everyone was very helpful Toilet didn't works too good...a dog urinated in the elevator and our paperwork said NO PETS...parking was very strict..if you have a guest visiting you are out of luck with the parking
Our hotel room was huge! The staff was friendly and there were lots of amenities - the even have beach cruiser bikes you can take out for the day. Nice location too right across from the beach.
Quiet, except for traffic that died down at night. Location right across from beach. Check out was 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, did not like that.
