Nice big room. Great breakfast
Staff were very friendly
Need additional trash can in bathroom. There was only one and I had to search for it. It was stored in the kitchen under the sink.
Friendly staff and clean building.
It's not very close to Millikin.
cleaniness and location of the room.
unexpect stranger in my room.
One of the nicer hotels in the area. Prefer Forsyth, but those are not as nice.
I didn't like the thumb tack that I found with my foot on the floor. I didn't like the stained cushion on the chair and I didn't like the noisy air conditioner.
It was a room.
Poor customer service, the rooms were ok but not ready the staff was very rude, I will never stay there again.
Clean and comfortable room.
chintzy single ply bathroom tissue
The staff was friendly
The only bed configuration is a queen and a couch pullout. The queen bed was passable, but the couch pullout was brutal. If you only need one queen size bed, I guess this room would be sufficient.
Very spacious rooms, comfortable beds, friendly service, quiet night's rest.
Pillow shams on bed seemed unsanitary.
The room was spacious. We were in town for a wedding. The bride and all her entourage has plenty of room to get ready. The staff was very courteous and offered help if we needed anything. The bed was probably the most comfortable I have ever slept on.
The outdoor space was almost non existant.
Nice clean environment. The hotel staff were excellent.
Price was high for the area.
Excellent accommodations and friendly staff.
Loved the way room was arranged-especially the bathroom not being right next to the door when coming in. Bed very comfortable.
If you don't leave the room early, the room will not be serviced. The bathrooms are small. No pool.
The housekeeping lady that brought our rollaway brought extra blankets to try to cushion the springs on the thin pullout mattress. She was great.
It was old and the bathroom tile was cracked and the floor was giving in like it could fall through. The first morning there, the waffle maker was broken.
The room was okay, but the extra linens had numerous cigarette burns in them. The room had only a shower with a very lousy head on it. Apart from that, the room was okay.
This hotel has served me well as a base when I am in town to handle family business. The staff are friendly, the full breakfast is an asset, everything is clean. One complaint is that the refrigerators in each room seem noisy; I also wish there was a computer accessible to guests.
I can only think of one word for my experience here and that was DISGUSTING! The first room I was put in reeked so horriby of smoke it was almost nauseating! So I asked for a different room. The gentleman at the front desk was very curtious and I asked for a room that was non-smoking. He cordially obliged me and I was given a different room. Much to my dismay, that room was just as bad or worse with the smell of smoke. There was also an ashtray on the table which clearly told me that this was NOT a non-smoking room! What part of 'non-smoking' do you not understand? My clothing and every thing I had with me smelled so bad the next morning that I had to wash everything and set my luggage outside to air out! Sorry to say, but I would definitely think twice before staying at this hotel! Whether you are a smoker or not, they obviously can't figure out how to accomodate the customer!
Having stayed at Hawthorn Suites before, my expectations were high. While the outside of the hotel looks new, the inside is well worn. Our carpet did look new but the furnishings were old. The bed was the nearly the worst we've ever had. The mattresses were as cheap and thin as you could get. We had a queen bed but they must've tried putting full size on them as the top sheet barely covered the horrible mattress. I tried and tried to pull it down further with no luck. My bedside lamp was missing the turn knob. I'd forgotten to print out directions so we called as we got near. The front desk girl had no idea how to give directions and we went a good 1/2 hour out of our way - so be sure to have your own directions. On a positive note, the breakfast was very good, the staff was nice and overall cleanliness was good. It is located far from any interstate though and this is a big factor when I book a business trip. There is a good authentic Mexican restaurant right down the road called El Matador, which was very good.
Staff was extremely polite and accomodating. Arrived late and asked for late checkout. After clerk got managers ok, everything was fine. Short stay, nice hotel and I stay there again if I have to visit again; otherwise the city itself was a nightmare.
The hotel was a great find close to my son's new home. Most of the hotels in Decatur were 8 miles away and this one was less then 2 and nice. The breakfast buffet was a delightful surprise. The food actually tasted homemade. Very happy to have found such a nice, warm friendly place to stay when you can't actually stay with family.'
I can always count on the Hawthorne Suites in Decatur/Mt.Zion to be clean, comfortable, dependable, and the rates are great. The staff is very helpful, and I know exactly what is going to be waiting for me.
