Pros:
In the middle of all things the Avis guy was polite and empathetic, at the end of the day it wasn't his faultCons:
We made the reservation thru kayak, however when we got to the avis office they told us that there were no cars available and that they didn't understand why they had let us reserve the cars. It was a major disappointment.2.0 Poor

Service was horrible. I asked reserved a full size car. I was offered a choice of a commercial size van that had been side swiped and was damaged along the entire length of the vehicle or a Tahoe instead. He told me he was upgrading me at no cost and I was getting a deal. I told him I would not be able to park either vehicle. He didn’t bother getting out of his chair the entire time. The vehicles looked like rent a wrecks. Never again.10.0 Wonderful

No hassle no problem smooth transition returning vehicle . The car I was given was new and clean , driving it felt like putting on fresh clean clothes. Overall excellent experience.2.0 Poor

Cons:
Arrived at the location to pick up reserved car, a Ford Fiesta. Was not only told that that car was not actually available but also that the only car that was available on the lot was a pickup truck. In addition to this, when we received the paperwork the price had doubled. Not a word was said about this price jump verbally, nor was it pointed out in the paperwork but luckily I’m a thorough reader. Spent over an hour negotiating to attempt to get the car and price I reserved for and got neither. As for the car, we refused to take the pickup as it would double the cost of gas and after a long while of being told that there was nothing else they finally admitted that a Nissan sedan was actually available, which we took (and was dirty). The only way I was compensated for the trouble was the addition of insurance for no extra cost.7.2 Good

Joe at East LA location was very helpful. Confusing which Avis was pickup. Joe changed the drop off for convenience.Cons:
It'd would've been nice if the location was described off airport. We had to take a taxi to the location and the cabby took us to the wrong one. It was a debacle.4.8 Mediocre

the car was new, clean and worked well for us. the rental agent allowed us to return the car to LAX without charge when I explained how we had thought this location was at LAX but had rented through Kayak. She said there had been several other customers who had a similar problemCons:
When I finally arrived at this location, (I had thought my rental was at LAX, and had to take a cab to this location instead, at a cost of $60) there was no one there, and the doors were locked. The only information on the door indicated that they are open until 2pm. It was 12:30. I called Avis, and they were unable to tell me anything more. They offered to send me to yet another location instead, but when I called that location, they had no car rentals available. Finally an agent returned and unlocked the doors. She did not greet me and the two other customers who had arrived while we waited. When I got up to the counter I started explaining to her what had happened, and she just shrugged and told me she had been on her lunch break. Then she took a call and dealt with that instead of taking care of me. She finally got us taken care of and did give me a credit to return the car at LAX, but never apologized or indicated she was sorry for all I had gone through to get this rental car. How hard is it to hang a sign on the door to tell frustrated travelers that you will be back? A locked door just indicates that you are closed. Personally, I'll never use AVIS again.3 locations in East Los Angeles
