From the outside, the building looked fine, but as soon as you walked in, BAM! You were back in the 70's. To say it needed a little updating would be too kind. Staff not much help with directions. Thin walls--could hear everyone next to me and above me for that matter. Wasn't treated like a Hilton GOLD member either!
A shuttle from the airport, warm cookies upon arrival, great service from the Staff, tasty food/drinks from the restaurant, super comfortable beds and free internet made this a great place to crash for the night when we couldn't get a timely flight out of LAX. I can't think of anything about our stay that wasn't pleasant.
he overall experience was fine, the mistake was ordering room service and paying 45 USD for a cup of yogurt, a soda and a medium salad... Also they charge the internet...
Quiet, roomy hotel tucked into a nice business district. Staff are friendly and helpful- all you have to do is pick up the phone and they'll have a cab called for you or help you find whatever you need! About a half hour or so from many of the destination areas, so cab rides to and fro may get expensive, but it's a great place if you're looking for a hotel in a safe area away from a lot of commotion. They have a large outdoor pool and jacuzzi (awesome if you or your kids love to swim!) There's also a free shuttle service to LAX that runs every half hour, which I found super helpful after noticing that the paid shuttle I had planned on taking required 24 hours notice for pickups the morning I was supposed to leave!
I stayed for almost a week. The restaraunt was a little pricey, but the food and service were great.
The Doubletree LAX is probably one of the best kept secrets of the area. It's located in a business park/section near the airport a stonestrow from the Mattel headquarters. So if you've got kids, there's an excellent discount shopping opportunity :) The staff was friendly, our room was spacious, and it is conveniently located to some very nice restaraunts...like 'The Proud Bird' for Sunday Brunch (recommended by staff) The signature DoubleTree Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies make me want to go back right now! This was an excellent bang for the buck, and most of all it is convenient to LAX without the noise or the astronomical airport hotel prices. And if you're driving, which most folks are...the parking is FREE!
Typical Doubletree...the hotel is conveniently located in a major metropolitan area; parking is ample; rooms are spacious, well appointed and very clean. However service is PREDICTABLY AWFUL!! I've stayed in Doubletrees at multiple locations across the US; and the service is consistently bad. For two full hours I attempted to order room service; no one ever answered the phone. Then I started calling the front desk to find out why no one ever answered the phone in the restaraunt. No one ever answered the phone at the front desk, despite the fact that I dialed multiple times over a one hour period. I finally broke down and called the 'customer care' number which is advertised as a line to make special requests (if getting someone to answer a phone at the front desk can be considered a 'special request'). Guess what? No one ever answers that number either. I was finally forced to go out and track down dinner at a local restaraunt. I also called and asked for a 5:30am wake up call, which I did not receive. Fortunately I anticipated they would screw this up as well, so I set the alarm on my cell phone as well. When I complained about all this the next morning, the lady at the counter said, 'sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. Hopefully your next experience will be better.' Yea, like that is gonna happen,
very clean bed, room, bathroom. Everything worked fine, even the water in the bath tube flows away when you take shower.
Stayed here and parked my car for a trip from LAX. The 7:30am shuttle driver was late (7:40) and then drove in the opposite direction to drop off two guys in front of some office building while travelers wondered out loud where we were going. The driver was rude. What tardy airport driver would ask 'why are you in such a hurry?' He did. The hotel is sooo close to the airport, it should truly take only five minutes. It took over 30 minutes and we arrived too late to check-in our bags. We missed our flight to Hawaii and spent two days in LAX waiting 'standby.' The rooms were decent and the two front desk people were very nice. But the managers were real jerks, especially the woman. They overcharged me for the parking and was real rude about it. I would NOT stay here if you need to return to the LAX airport. And if you have any problems, don't count on them to do anything about it or to own up to it.
We regularly stay here for one-night layovers. It's a good basic hotel. Weekend rates are better than weekday rates -- think business travelers during the week. Room is fine: modern, reasonably well appointed (mini-fridge, safe), clean, and in good condition, but a little cramp if you get a room with two beds. During our stay, the hotel was undergoing renovation, so you'll have to pardon the construction 'mess.' The restaurant is a little pricey. Airport shuttle service starts on the hour and runs every 30 minutes, starting, I believe, at 4 AM. The fitness room had the standard cardio equipment plus free weights, one pair each of 5 lbs. to 50 lbs. The fitness room is very similar (actually, looks standardized in terms of equipment) to that found at the Hilton Garden Inn, just down the street and around the corner. Makes sense, since DoubleTree is a Hilton brand. As such, if you like the DoubleTree, you'll find the Hilton Garden Inn to be a comparable place.
Great location - close to airport, but didn't notice a lot of airport noise. Close to freeways. It's in a business park setting and area seemed very safe. Convenient, free parking. Rooms were very clean and service very good.\n\nThe only downside was that one of the elevators was broken during our 4 day stay, so elevator service was slow. The business center only had two computers, so at times you had to wait (a short time) to use it.\n\nAll in all, we had a very good experience and would stay there again.
Everything was was very nice, but the room we were put in was right over a very noisy reception with music so loud, it vibrated my chest as I tried to sleep. This wouldn't normally bother me, but we had to get up early. I wish the front desk staff had mentioned this when we checked in, I would have asked for a different room, if I had known about the party.
We really enjoyed our stay. The initial greeting with the warm cookie was a great start to an excellant weekend. The room service was surperb; the food was delivered timely and hot! We always retrurned to a clean room without any pressure from the cleaning staff to depart early. We will definitly come again and again!
Room was great. Staff was terrible - rude and not helpful at all. Wouldn't stay there again for that reason. There are too many other hotels in the area to chose from.
