Hotel Donatello is in a quiet residential area, 10 minutes’ walk from Florence Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Rooms feature air conditioning and a TV. The Donatello Hotel is a 20-minute stroll from Florence’s main historic sites including the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. The Fortezza da Basso Exhibition Centre is just 500 metres away. Rooms are decorated in a distinctive Florentine style and some have frescoed ceilings, all feature marble bathrooms. They are equipped with internet access and a hairdryer. Cons:There is a tiny sign in the corner of the window in Italian with small English text underneath... it’s a warning to not leave windows open for prolonged period of time or mosquitoes will invade the room. We didn’t see the sign until it was too late. And one day of being exposed to a roomful of mosquitoes was enough to ruin many days ahead. :( breakfast buffet was pretty good, great cappuccino and everything else super coffee machine, fresh pancake maker, delicious croissants, and the usual ham, cheese, honey, dry cereal selections. Beware there is NOT free wifi in the rooms. It’s 5 euros per day per device! Hefty fee for wifi.
Pros:If in Florence and you don't want to spend a lot of money, this place was clean.
Cons:Perhaps it's the Florentine style, just a bit old.
