The 10 best hotels in Fort Lauderdale

Discover the top hotels in Fort Lauderdale handpicked by local expert Sara Liss.
Sara Liss
December 6, 2023

Once considered nothing more than a rowdy spring break haunt, the city of Fort Lauderdale has recently transformed into a sophisticated destination for luxury hotels, award-winning restaurants, and a slew of cultural events. With lower room rates and airfares than its southern sister – along with beachfront music festivals, food and wine events, and international boat shows – the “Venice of America” is a must-visit destination in the sunshine state. Here are my top ten best hotels in Fort Lauderdale.

1.

The Dalmar, Fort Lauderdale, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Address:

299 North Federal Highway

Price:

$188-914/night

If you’re into contemporary design and want a stylish place to stay in downtown Fort Lauderdale with unique food and beverage options, the Dalmar delivers. The hotel has five incredible food and beverage concepts, including the city’s highest rooftop bar and an infinity pool overlooking the city.
The pool area features cabanas and Sip N’ Dip, a high-energy pool bar. The centerpiece of the action, the Lobby Bar, mixes an array of tropical style references.
There are 209 stylish guest rooms, including 33 suites, all featuring luxurious Sferra bedding and linens. I was impressed with thoughtful in-room amenities like the high-tech air purifier and complimentary pool slippers.
And while the hotel is not located directly on the beach, there’s an hourly hotel shuttle that whisks you to the beach where access to two beach chairs and a beach umbrella await.

2.

Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach

Address:

551 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard

Price:

$296-2401/night

This 290-room all-suite condo resort pays tribute to Fort Lauderdale’s celebrated waterways and yachting industry. The hotel features the Sky Deck, Fort Lauderdale’s only 20,000-square-foot ocean-facing pool deck, and a 4,000-square-foot spa with ample treatment rooms.
The suites all include a kitchen with Nespresso coffee makers and stovetops along with marble bathrooms. The hotel’s upscale Japanese and Korean fusion restaurant is Takato, meaning ‘in a state of extreme happiness’ in Japanese, and features sharable small plates and entrees with a spotlight on sushi – plus an array of handcrafted cocktails, curated sake and a must-try vegan wine collection. The resort fee covers WiFi, access to hotel bikes, and morning yoga. An on-site kids club provides childcare for an additional fee. The hotel has an overall sophisticated vibe with plenty of amenities for families or those looking for sleek and modern decor on Fort Lauderdale beach.

3.

AC Hotel by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport

Address:

154 North Compass Way

Price:

$147-611/night

AC Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach feels modern and sleek and is one of the newest oceanfront hotels to open in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The hotel is moderate in size with 171 rooms but still feels to me intimate enough to have a quiet getaway. Some of the rooms feature 360 degree water views, floor-to-ceiling windows, plush bedding, 55-inch TVs, plenty of workspace, and modern bathrooms.
It has complimentary filtered water hydration stations on each floor with refillable carafes to help guests stay hydrated. There’s an elevated pool deck overlooking the Atlantic and breakfast can be had at the ground floor AC Kitchen, something that I highly recommend. The AC Lounge has both outdoor and indoor dining and serves Spanish-inspired tapas along with the hotel brand’s famous gin and tonic during happy hour.

4.

Pelican Grand Beach Resort, a Noble House Resort

Address:

2000 North Ocean Boulevard

Price:

$174-1429/night

This well-kept beach resort features Fort Lauderdale’s only lazy river hotel pool (in addition to a second zero-entry pool), making this an ideal getaway for families or travelers looking for a unique experience on the Fort Lauderdale strip. The hotel boasts a full calendar of daily activities including things like “Martini Mondays,” live entertainment, and yoga on the beach.
Guests’ rooms are beautifully furnished with a coastal-chic aesthetic, and many feature sweeping ocean views. The hotel’s Ocean 2000 restaurant features a legendary brunch – from seafood-centric dishes like blue crab cake benedict and spicy tuna ahi tacos to classic brunch dishes like avocado toast and Belgian waffles – along with bottomless bloodies and mimosas to wash it all down.
It’s all complimented by views of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean across the street. Other dining options include the Emporium, styled after an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, and the O2K Lounge with craft cocktails and light fare.

5.

The Lago Mar Beach Resort and Club

Address:

1700 South Ocean Lane

Price:

$217-994/night

There’s lots to love about this stately resort located directly on Fort Lauderdale beach (as opposed to across the street from the beach, like most hotels on the Fort Lauderdale strip). The ten-acre resort boasts its own private beach and lots of welcome perks like free parking, no resort fee and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The hotel has an Old Florida feel to it with shuffleboard courts, whitewashed buildings housing rooms and suites, lots of lush landscaping, two pools that include a lagoon and large tennis courts. There are four restaurants on property-including a vintage soda shop with ice cream and baked goods, which you have to stop by and taste – and two bars including a wine lounge. Another must-visit spot in the resort.

6.

Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

Address:

505 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard

Price:

$206-2844/night

A sprawling resort with upscale amenities, this beachfront property is one of the largest on Fort Lauderdale beach, with 374 rooms, a large pool, and a sun deck. Many of the rooms feature large balconies and ocean views. There are three restaurants on-site and a spa and fitness center.
The hotel also features beach chairs and umbrellas for guests, along with a beach food and beverage center. While the hotel is not as flashy as its more trendy neighbors, it offers a reasonable price point for its location on the main strip of Fort Lauderdale Beach.
When staying there, I highly recommend that you take a stroll to Las Olas Boulevard, where you can find an array of vibrant restaurant and shops. The resort is only 3 miles from the boulevard.

7.

The Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

Address:

2900 Riomar Street

Price:

$119-658/night

Located a few blocks from Fort Lauderdale Beach, this Kimpton resort exhibit’s the hospitality brand’s distinctive, design-forward aesthetic with a zen-like coastal flare. There’s a free shuttle to the beach where lounge chairs are reserved for hotel guests, but visitors also have two heated outdoor pools to choose from – one on the rooftop and one lobby-level.
A daily resort fee covers perks like daily yoga classes, beach chairs, complimentary bottled water at the beach, bike rentals, kids’ beach toys and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The hotel is famously pet-friendly in keeping with Kimpton tradition – in fact, it offers a “Pet Concierge” service – and amenities such as daily social hour and complimentary yoga mats in the rooms.
The hotel’s La Fuga restaurant is making its mark in the South Florida culinary scene, offering a diverse selection of coastal Italian classics. Rooms are basic but stylish with blonde wood furnishings and high-end bath products.

8.

The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale

Address:

1 North Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard

Price:

$424-3311/night

Set along the beachfront, the 189-room Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale pays homage to the yachting capital of the world with an elevated, heated infinity pool inspired by a ship’s bow, and a calming, high-end spa that incorporates elements of the sea. Residence-style rooms feature apartment-style living making it ideal for families or those wanting privacy.
Located across the street from the beach, the hotel embodies Fort Lauderdale’s historical, nautical and design influences. Those wanting extra amenities can opt for “club level” rooms, which come with access to a dedicated lounge offering light bites and drinks throughout the day, as well as a personalized concierge available to make arrangements for guests – such as boat rentals and daily excursions. The hotel’s Burlock Coast restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike for its modern coastal cuisine and regularly wins awards for outstanding cuisine from local publications.

9.

Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach

Address:

2800 South Ocean Boulevard

Price:

$617-4998/night

Evoking the design and leisurely pace of yacht life, this Four Seasons property is a dazzling newcomer to the Fort Lauderdale coastal landscape. The building’s curved silhouette, fresh white materials, and clean contemporary lines designed by architect Kobi Karp are inspired by the city’s yachting heritage, winding waterways, and lively streets.
The hotel’s ocean sun deck overlooks the ocean across the street and is home to two horizon-edge pools and the hotel’s glossy restaurant. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the hotel’s restaurant – Evelyn’s – has a nautical interior design and serves eastern Mediterranean meets coastal cuisine.
I highly recommend the luxurious spa offers treatments like the Signature Ebb & Flow Massage that employs harmonic healing sound bowls, aromatic oils, and a combination of Swedish massage and Thai stretching techniques.

10.

Cambria Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach

Address:

2231 North Ocean Boulevard

Price:

$135-2239/night

This is one of the newest properties on Fort Lauderdale beach and offers an affordable option on the strip. There are two dining outlets on site including an Italian tapas bar as well as a roof deck where guests can take in views of the Atlantic. Rooms are nicely decked out in modern furnishings with flat screen TV’s, blonde wood bed frames and Bluetooth mirrors in the bathrooms.
And added perk in the rooms are the complimentary coffee makers and in-room mini-fridge. A pool deck and fitness center round out the amenities and something that puts the hotel in my top list is the fact that all of Fort Lauderdale beach’s action is a short walk away making this an ideal stay for travelers who want to explore off-property.
