The Sura Bar and Bistro offers a traditional Costa Rican menu with beautiful views of the volcano as well as waterfalls. Sura is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Arenal Lobby Bar is a great place to catch sporting events while enjoying great drinks, good music, and bar snacks. The Thermal Forest Wet Bar: El Chonete has swim-up bar seating as well as dry seating so guests can enjoy a nice cocktail in the thermal waters of the pools.

Rooms at the Volcano Lodge are unique in that each room has a secluded, private terrace with a view of the Arenal Volcano. Additionally, every room gets a desk, coffee maker with Costa Rican coffee, and cable television. Each room features custom furnishings and a cozy rustic feeling with modern influences.

There is the opportunity to swim at the base of the La Fortuna Waterfall, go horseback riding through the rainforest, and even watersports like water rafting, canyoneering, and spelunking. This resort offers something for the adventure seeker and those who wish to relax and unwind.

The only negative for us was the age of the room. Everything is quite dated, although clean and neat. The hotel could use to update the linens on the beds to a fresher white rather than the brown blanket.
