I usually write a very detailed review that will be enough for one to read and make a decision by reading only mine. I try to be very inclusive and objective. 1- This is NOT the old Grand Lucayan with the big building anymore. Apparently after the storm last year followed by COVID, the regular big building was severely damaged, and the capacity was very little, and the property was sold. The new (current) Grand Lucayan is the small building on the far side of the beach and it is more like a motel than a hotel. 3 story high, connected rooms with really old structure. Rooms are seriously worn out. The water that comes from the tap is well water so it is bitter, not fresh tap water. Food offered is only by 1 staff. You can no longer eat at the hotel. It either turns out very bad, or it ends up arriving in 1 hour after you sit down and order and prices are MUCH higher compared to all the other options on the island, with MUCH better food. There is a nice pool, but just one pool and not the big one that was in front of the big building. No activities, not enough staff. Most of the sections are closed, no spa, no water sports, no snorkeling trips.. none of that anymore. 2. Location of the hotel is very nice. It has its own beach and it is definitely nice. But the rooms are so bad that you cannot get yourself to overlook that and focus on the beach. 3. The connected rooms is a bit of a problem if your neighbor ends up being extremely loud like it was in our case. 4. We had 3 rooms. One had hot water problem, the other one's AC did not work. And the other one's AC worked but the thermostat did not work, so the only AC setting was either OFF, or 60 degrees to freeze to death. 3 out of 3 fails. Really bad. IF you have been here before, IT IS NOT the old hotel. Do not come here. The island has a few other options and I would definitely do that. I would definitely rent a car and go to Gold Rock Beach. It is one of the best beaches I have ever seen. Stoned Crab, or Flying Fish are the 2 dinner options that definitely do not disappoint. Overall, we had a nice time. But I am definitely not going back to Lucayan again. I would definitely go back to Grand Bahamas for sure though.
