This was our first visit to the Cayman Islands and it certainly won't be our last, what a beautiful place!! We just returned from a week long stay at the Grand Cayman Beach Suites and thought it was absolutely WONDERFUL...we would return tomorrow if we could!! The location is fab, the beach and water are absolutely spectacular, the hotel suite was lovely and all of the staff all week were just great... very friendly, helpful and professional. We were there from September 21-28 and very fortunately had beautiful weather the entire week and enjoyed several excursions (snorkeling and diving) with Red Sail Sports which were easily arranged right at the hotel. We found the suite to be very spacious and very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the view of the beach from our balcony was amazing! I had called before we arrived and requested a room on a higher floor and we were on the fourth floor which was great! We were on the side of the hotel where the construction is ongoing next door but found that that never bothered us because the units seem to be very well soundproofed and we were always up early for our day's adventure! The pool area is beautiful and the chairs at the pool and the beach are very comfortable as others have mentioned. This is a lovely small 'boutique' hotel with only 50 rooms so the beach in front of the resort was never crowded. Even with lots of people at the pool and children playing it was still very relaxing in the pool area...the landscaping is beautiful!! The swim-up pool bar was wonderful, food and drinks are a bit pricey but that is the case everywhere in the islands in my experience and you are on vaca anyway so who cares?? We bought groceries at the Foster's Supermarket (very nice) which is just a couple of blocks away and ate several meals in our suite which helped save $$, also bought our own liquor at the nearby liquor store and that was a much better deal! The housekeeping ladies were wonderful, brought us chocolates for our pillow...
Caters to families and couples. Above average amenities and view of the ocean at reasonable prices. Watersports. Healthclub. Pool bartender really personable. Chocolates on our pillows.
Overall the resort if very nice. It is small but that can be a good thing. There a few things to keep in mind : food and drinks on this island are very expensive this is why we like to have a suite/condo set up so we can control how many meals we have to have out. This resort has many things in the plus column; The staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the area and were able to meet all of our requests, right on the beach with clear warm water and plenty of sea life to see using snorkeling equipment, dive shop on location, bar and restaurant (expensive but good quality food) on the location but it does allow you a chance to get out of your room and meet new people. They don't have any planned activities on resort so bring some games or cards to keep yourself entertained in the evening and a good book for the beach. I am really glad that we were able to get a unit with a balcony that allowed us to have meals on the balcony and to put our suits out the dry. There are bars, restaurants, and food and clothing shopping in walking distance. Overall we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend Eats Cafe for good food for decent prices it is in walking distance. The only change I would recommend they make at Grand Cayman Suites is changing the carpeting in the lobby. It had a a very bad sour laundry smell and since you have to go through the lobby to get to and from your room it was the only unpleasant truly unpleasant part of the stay.
I have stayed at this hotel several times, and I keep coming back. The rooms are fabulous. The staff is wonderful. The location is superb!
We spent 5 nights 4 days there. Welcoming champaign was great. Limited parking spot is ok for non peak season. Ok to pay for WIFI service at $9.99 per night. But shouldn't charge for the day we left. Also, no TV signal for 2 nights was really frustrated. Especially pool hours till 6pm. Our daughter got nothing to do at all. Construction in next building was an headache from 7am.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Suites. The staff was really welcoming and very accomindating. They made it a point to remember my name. They were very helpful in booking our attractions. And not just to make money either. They booked us on a different tour company than the one at the hotel, and it seemed like a very good value.
Compared to some other hotels gcb suites is a good deal. Loved that the huge room faced the ocean. Nice to have a sitting room apart from the bedroom. Staff was great ! The beach was fabulous. They make arrangements to go to sting ray city which is worth doing ; scuba or snorkling trips too Hate to say anything negative but there is a construction site right next door and they do start early. they do give you earplugs . The internet is $9.99 a day.
While I enjoy boutique hotels, the outdoor accommodations were crowded, the pool area was just about inaccessible. It was extremely small, just a few guest would fill the area. Staff were cordial, not warm, just doing their job. All and all I will make a different selection on my return.
My Husband & I spent a week here last April, 2011 for our honeymoon. We just kind of randomly picked it off the internet based off of the photos and reviews. We LOVED it!! We arrived around noon and they told us our room would be ready at 3pm. They kept our luggage for us, and we changed into shorts/bathing suits and headed to the bar! Our room was ready promptly at 3pm. We choose an ocean view room, however once getting there we tried to upgrade to a balcony room, but they were all sold out. We will definitely book a balcony room from the get-go for our next stay. The suites were very clean and new. The bathroom was large and clean and the bed comfy. The kitchenette was a definite plus. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, a grocery store and a liquor store. I recommend stocking your wet bar from the liquor store if you drink. The bar tabs at up quickly! Loved Dexters across the street! Definitely recommend snorkeling, the stingray adventure and shopping in Georgetown. The staff is very friendly. The lounge chairs on the beach weren't all crammed together like other hotels we walked by (Marriott & Ritz). I have been to several Caribbean Islands, and this one is by far the best yet. I can not wait to return!
The Grand Cayman Beach Suites is a fantastic hotel. While it was a bit on the expensive side to eat and drink there it was centrally located and the staff was always happy to help or answer questions. The only main complaint we had was the construction going on for a new hotel next door. Every morning at 7am they started work so the banging commenced.
The hotel staff were accomodating and even thinking ahead for me in regards to dinner reservations or taxi arrangements. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and very pleasant to be around. Could not ask for more. The outdoor bar staff would come on to the beach with a tray of ice water to make sure we were properly hydrated. Much appreciated. Thank you!
The room was well kept and very clean. The location is within walking distance to many palces (grocery store, restaurants, etc.) and there is a local bus that runs from one end of the island to the other for a reasonable fee. The beach and water were amazing. Most of the staff was very helpful. However, the front desk staff could be better focused on customer service. We are looking forward to returning next year.
We were only booked at this hotel for one night. However, they were oversold and had to move us. I completely understand, that does happen. But, we arrived at 10:30 am. They said 'our room' was not ready but took my id and credit card anyway, knowing they were oversold. They said they would come find us at breakfast or the beach when 'our room' was ready. After checking back twice, the clerk asked me to wait. I assumed she was checking with housekeeping to see if the room was cleaned yet. But, instead the manager came out to tell me 'we have a situation'. 'The hotel is oversold and we are trying to find you another hotel.' We were being picked up in 30 minutes to go to the Pirates week parade. We had to cancel because we did not have time to move and change and get ready. We changed our flights to stay the extra day to see the parade and enjoy the festivities. It was a very costly choice and outcome! I understand oversold situations do happen...I also understand why they chose to move us instead of other guests(only 1 nt). I don't appreciate the lack of consideration and leading us on that our room was going to be available. We could have stayed where we were! They had my email address and my phone number. It was truely an example of the worst customer service possible! I would never, ever, recommend this hotel.
