The staff members who met with us and checked us in were very friendly and nice. The location is beautiful and convenient to Wallowa Lake and associated attractions. This is apparently a sort of "destination" facilty as opposed to a location for those (like us) who wanted to maximize evening relaxation in order to enjoy very full days of travel and sight-seeing.
Although clean, the room was sparse and minimalist at best. There was no electrical power in the bathroom and little power access throughout the room. The TV was small and old. We don't really care much about TV, but if you did, this would be a limitation. The internet service was Incredibly slow (partly due to very heavy evening use, as it was somewhat faster early in the morning). It was so slow, in fact, that I could not even run a speed test program-to see just how slow it was. It did allow slow email without photos related to our ongoing trip and was no where near fast enough to stream program material or up or download large data files. Insulation between rooms and from the outdoors was poor. The neighbors included a number of kids, and we could hear every door slamming and running up and down the stairs-even though they really were not being terribly rowdy. The room was not air-conditioned, which should not have been a problem at this site, but there was no way to have cross ventilation without opening the door. Hence, after a warm day it took quite a while for the room to cool down to comfortable sleeping temperature. And, of course, with windows and doors open, there is little to prevent outside noises from coming in. All in all, we felt the room was only adequate. It did not provide us with the rest for which we were looking after a long day. It could have been so much more with a few more thoughtful design features.
