JMU 1 mile. Sky Line Drive, skiing, golf and caverns nearby. Civic War Battle Field 24 miles. Many restaurant close and located beside the mall. Pet accommodation: 10.00/night. Pet limit: 1 pet/room, 25 pounds and under. Pets are accepted only in smoking rooms.
Great location, close to many things, kids loved the pool , staff was friendly , I wasPleasantly surprised with this hotel! We even had family who switched to this hotel after problems with theirs , highly recommend
location was good
Breakfast was horrible, they ran out of breads .. lol
Clean, quiet and comfortable.
The location was very nice, and the staff was friendly. Free breakfast.
The room had water spots in the ceiling and along the wall. The air conditioner unit leaked.
I was looking for an economical place to stay while picking my daughter up from JMU. The exterior and public areas are a bit dated, but the room exceeded my expectations. Clean and comfortable! The location is great for access to restaurants and stores.
The sheets didn't seem fresh. Tub stains. Peeling wallpaper. Lint on floor. Inadequate heat. Lobby outside door slams. Minimal breakfast choices -- only pre-sliced English muffins, toast, two choices of cereal. Orange juice watery.
Price and location
King size bed in small room, bathroom very small, kept bumbling into things.
Location was great!
Breakfast didn't have much to choose from.
Fridge, micro, hairdryer included. Great location. Heat worked quickly
Bed wobbled off frame. Pillows missing cases
Booking said a non-smoking room, not the case. Hotel was/is filthy...remove from your list!
There was nothing to like.
it was fine. an acceptable stay for a night.
There was no parking when we came in following dinner that night. I had to park on a hill above the hotel that wasn't lit very well and was very secluded. But that's the only complaint.
Nice tv and comfortable king size bed
Pool was not in working order, sign indicated newly renovated, but the ceiling was in bad shape, rusty tissue holder, only 3 pillows for bed, not enough bed covers
The hot water needs to be turned up a degree or two for the shower
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Ran out of knives, plates, and napkins at breakfast. The door on my room was difficult to close, but a hotel staff member explained this at check-in, and it was still completely usable.
Econolodge ranks near the bottom of the motel food chain. This has to be the crummiest econolodge we have ever experienced. If I had it to do over I would sleep in the car.
And anything (and I mean anything) you bring into the room! We stayed for the JMU Family Weekend, and all we could get (with reservations made 6 mo in advance) was a smoking room. Never again! The stench was powerful, and upon returning home, we had to wash everything that came into the room (even if it stayed in a drawer or suitcase). Beds were not very comfortable, and the continental breakfast (cereal, bagels/donuts/muffins, weak coffee) was pitiful. This is an older building with most (all?) rooms opening onto the parking lot or an exterior walkway. We would have tried someplace else, but hotels were full that weekend, there was a 2-night minimum, and the room was already paid for and non-refundable. On the plus side, the hotel is very convenient to local shopping, I-81, and JMU, the rooms and bathrooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the hotel has free wifi access (woot!). I am unsure what we will do for future JMU Family Weekends, (everyone is full, jacks up prices and requires a 2-night stay), but we won't be staying here!
We had the unfortunate situation for having to settle for the last room available in the whole town as University folks all arrived that day. Instead of the $* dollar advertised rate we ended up paying over $* for what appeared to be the staff's quarters. It was a dump but we had no choice. Not very clean. Poor continental breakfast, if you can call it a breakfast. \n
This motel was older and it showed. Tile floor was caulked many times. Wiring exposed below HVAC unit. Beds were lumpy. No clock! Newer TV.
It was the worst of times, It was the worst of times! We were charged premium pricing on a room that was in a state of disrepair. If this is what Econolodge has to offer, they have lost me as a customer forever. I found it necessary to take pictures. How many hotels have you stayed in that you felt compelled to take pictures?
I had an internet reservation for a non-smoking room. The reservation is supposed to be held until 0700 the next morning. In spite of this, the reservation was cancelled by their computer b/c ''it was after midnight at the end of the month.'' It took over 30 min to chk in, I got a smoking room, and I had to see the manager the next day to get my rate corrected. They were very nice and helpful, but it was frustrating.
We have been staying at many Econolodges. This by far the best. Hotel did lot of improvements including just renovated bathrooms. Free wireless internet is a great feature.
