The Aldemar Knossos Royal Village is a holiday resort with blue and white bungalows set in gardens on the tip of a bay overlooking the Aegean sea, situated 25 kilometres from Heraklion on the island of Crete. The complex features 390 modern villas, all of which open onto balconies with ocean or garden views; accommodation also provide cable television, refrigerators, bathroom telephones and safes. A mini club offers fun schedules for kids, with a variety of recreational activities, a playground, a giant outdoor chess board and two children's pools. For a surcharge there is access to the neighbouring Thalasso Spa. Bikes can be rented at the hotel and access is provided to a horseback riding centre 22 kilometres from the hotel. Local attractions include the Minoan Palaces of Malia (ten kilometres away) and the Knossos (25 kilometres) and the vibrant city centre of Heraklion (also 25 kilometres). Nikos Kazantkakis Airport is 25 minutes by car, 23 kilometres (14 miles) from the hotel.
