The Iron Corbel Inn Bed & Breakfast is a Second Empire, Victorian style house, located in the heart of Historic Hollidaysburg. The original house was built in 1854, but the house you see today was not completed until the 1880s when the third floor was added. The name originates from the cast iron columns on the front porch and the brackets corbels which support the mansard style roof and porch(which look like ladies faces).Marble fireplaces and converted gas chandeliers along with original detail create an elegant formal Parlor and Dinning Room. Floor to ceiling mirrors and stained glass windows make the Great room a magnificent place for a special event. The parlor and front porch provide areas to comfortably sit and read. The house is tastefully decorated with period antiques and artwork, yet still has a warm homelike atmosphere. Each guest room have there own private baths. Rooms have a variety of options for sleeping and some can accomodated children. While most rooms have showers the Guest Suite and other third floor nautical room have old clawfoot tubs in addition to a shower. Wireless internet, airconditioning, full breakfast are the largest ammenities offered. Additional meals can be provided with advance request, as the owner is a culinary graduate. Early breakfast is offered at 7am Monday through friday.Historic Hollidaysburg is a quiet residential neighborhood dating back to the 1800s. The sidewalks are lined with large old Victorian houses. The Iron Corbel Inn is both convenient and peaceful for travelers staying in the area. It is close to Altoona and just down the street from the Blair County Courthouse.
