I liked how safe and secure it was. We were able to park our car in a garage, and the guest house was safe behind a locked gate. Apparently there can be security concerns in Johannesburg at night (although we didn't feel at risk ever) so it was nice that our safety was taken seriously. I also appreciated how friendly and considerate the staff was. Lovely breakfast in the mornings, and charming grounds.
As sweet as the property was, the rooms felt a bit shabby. Old carpeting, flourescent lighting and acoustic tiles on the ceiling were unattractive points in an otherwise adorable old guesthouse. The garden and pool on the grounds were just lovely.
Great GuestHouse, very well located close to many restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly and the room was big and clean.
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and were a great advert for South Africa during the World Cup. Great location close to the bars and restaurants of Melville.
Secure building in nice area not far from Melville amenities, but prices were jacked up to exploit the WOrld Cup - perhaps understandably!
Reliance on taxis to get there, and power outage/cold water during stay
Great location for Melville. Staff excellent, good breakfast.
Room was basic and very overpriced at around £200 for twin ensuite.
Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast.
Close to university, clean and quiet and very friendly staff. Definitely consider coming back.
