It was a decent place to stay. Good location in Kehei within walking distance of beach, bars, shops and restaurants. Not a hotel so no maid service or room service but both our rooms had kitchens and washer/dryer combo so a quick stop at Safeway or Foodland can load the fridge for the stay. We had some rude parents near by so loud kids were an issue for part of the stay...
Internet was just plug in you had to pay and it never worked, got refund. Screen on lanai door ripped, internet cable taped under slider making door hard to open, found broken glass, bottle caps and dust/leaves under coach, large cobwebs throughout, see through beach towels, beach chairs filthy and clasps all broken, lanai furniture covered in rust. This place is for sale and it is obvious owner doesn't intend to spend andy money on it. It is dire need of an upgrade. Friend had room on 5th floor for less that was totally upgraded, made our room look like slums. Office won't print out boarding passes, all other places I have stayed always did, wanted $10.00 an hour for late check out! You dropped the ball on this one.
The view from the room was wonderful. The beach was a three minute walk from the room. The room wasn't the best but it sufficed. We weren't in Maui for the room. Had a great time!
The Kihei Akahi condo we stayed at was very nice; updated amenities in the condo itself, beautiful garden view, and just a 30 second walk to the beach. The kitchen and linen closet were fully stocked. There was a washer/dryer in the unit, and a keyless entry which came in very handy. The staff were friendly. There was a tennis court and the pool facility had an outdoor kitchen as well. All in all I would go back here in a heartbeat!
Leaving tomorrow, wish we had a few more days. The unit we stayed in was awesome. It was recently updated, and was great. Larger than we thought, and had everything we could possibly need ie; beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, umbrella, even coffee travel mugs and water bottles. I didn't see what the other units looked like, but I would definitely stay here again. The property has very nice grass/garden areas, and 2 decent size pools. Our unit said garden view, but we could see the ocean from the lanai (5th floor). The location is right across from 'Kam II' beach. Great for our kids, good amount of sand, gentle surf. Restaurants, bars, shopping and necessities within easy walking distance. They are still in the process of re-paving the parking area, was a little inconvenient, but not a big issue. Looks like they will be done soon. Really was more than we expected.
Our two bedroom condo was great for the price. It's not luxurious but extremely comfortable for a nice relaxing vacation. It is located across from the Kamoale Beach. The condo is equiped with kitchen accessories and appliances and also have beach equipment (coolers, chairs, umbrella, snorkeling gear, mats, towels, and etc) available, which was a huge plus. I would definitely stay here again!
ok- nothing fancy. Clean, but outdated. Each unit is owned and maintained by different owners. Some are dumps, some nice. Good location, in the middle of Kihei. GREAT body/boogie board surfing beach across the street 3 minute walk. Snorkeling is a drive down the road a few minutes. Try to find out the exact room u r getting w.pics. Dont stay next to elevator - NOISY. I would return. If you want something fancy/luxury you have to spend alot more money. Alot of repeat visitors from Canada. I am from California. I have stayed in fancy 5 star Fairmont Kea Lani - to cockroach dump in waikiki. Been to Hawaii 9 times. If you are on your honey moon - spend more on luxury. If you come to Hawaii to snorkel/surf etc..- never in your room - stay in dump - the money you save - you could use to return next year. This place isnt a dump but its not the Fairmont either.
After doing some research I found out that a good portion of these condo units are individually owned and then rented out when the owner is away. That being said some units are cared for way better than others. The unit we stayed in had a washer/dryer and full kitchen. The kitchen even had granite counter tops. These condos have two pools with BBQ's at each pool and is right across the from the beach. Not top notch but above average.
We stayed 6 days. No AC made it warm at times. The place was built in 1976 and our room definitely showed it's age. The plumbing fixtures leaked, the kit and bath cabinets were starting to fall apart. The ceiling fans were all run by long extension cords which should be illegal. The place needs a good remodel since they must have made plenty on this over the years.
The freezer in the kitchen of a one bedroom unit was so noisy that I could barely sleep The following night my wife and daughter wolunteered to let me sleep in the bedroom only to discover after opening it, that the couch was broken (the canvass was torn off from the frame). As a result of a visit to the office and several phone calls we were offered a 2-bedroom unit which was excellent
Staff always helpful; condo was in excellent condition; the condo was well stocked with linen for our 2 week stay. It was equipped with a good washing machine and dryer. The kitchen was in excellent condition and well equipped but no dishwasher. Close to good clean pool and tennis court. Across the road from a lovely beach; and had restaurants, shops and bus stops just a short walk away. Office had all the Activity Guides and offered all tourist info. We had had 2 children with us and we all had a wonderful time.
Good facilities for the money; Staff helpful/friendly. Excellent location for beach and walk to restaurants, shopping. Kihei nice and laid back. You need a car vto get away from the local beach activities. Easy walk to great beaches for kids. Condo facilities help keep costs down. Would definitely return.
The location can't be beat with Kamaole II, shops and restaurants within 5 minutes. My guess is that all units were not as dirty as ours (C207) which I got through ResortQuest. The unit is in bad need of paint and carpet both of which look like they're the originals. There were multiple rings in the tub that were disgusting and the floors look like the dirt has has been diluted with water and haven't seen any kind of cleaner for quite some time. The unit was stocked with a mop but no cleaner and after all, we were on vacation at almost $200/night! as best not to look at the floor in the bathroom too closely. I was able to see into the next unit which was CLEAN and the carpet and cabinets appeared to be MUCH newer. Long story short, it's gamble as to what kind of unit you'll get but didn't spend much time in the room anyway.
Condo not kept up. Carpet dirty. Ask about lock out policy. They say one thing & do another. Not real friendly. Couch in condo broken. Book accordingly.
We stayed in C507. Overall it was an o.k. condo. It is definately not a resort room so if this is what your looking for don't go here. It was perfect for us because we wanted a kitchen to cook for ourselves. The beach was right across the street. The room was clean, but the furniture was old school. All kitchen supplies were available such as: pots, pans, silverware, etc. We didn't use the pool, but from what I saw it wasn't a fancy one. We had a good time, but might try a resort next time. It was a good deal for what you get.
Good luck getting any help here! The kitchen drawer was broken and would not open, carptes were filthy, ice maker didn't work, no air conditioning (we were gone all day not too bad at night) On site person referred me to Resortquest who never answered nor returned any of my messages to complain and request another room. Fifth time to Maui, have never experienced such bad service before. Travel agent didn't help either, kept looking for the Gnome, never got a return call from him either! :(
We had a late check in and when we arrived at the hotel, the room keys were not available. We had to wait 1 hour for the manager to show up to deliver the keys. My 2 kids got impatient while we waited and 2 hotel guests came out to shut us up. I calmly requested that they complain to the manager, as it was their fault we were left without a room.\nKitchen/Bathroom were not very clean, I did a lot of cleaning myself in order to be comfortable. \nNext day we signed up for the activities meeting and the overall feeling was: Not a kid friendly place at all!!!\nOne good thing: Great Location. Beach across the street is awesome.
Wonderful place to stay if you like feeling dirty and uncomfortable. Our unit was broken down and grimy with no AC. We called the office but they said they didnt have any other units available which was probably a lie because the place is pretty big. Not a nice place to come home to after a long and tiring day, because relaxing is not something you can do here. The simplest things such as extra toilet paper and soap had to be provided by yourself. You definity do not get your moneys worth staying here. Don't bother checking this place out, go somewhere else!
There were cockroaches in the unit. We noticed them the first evening of our stay. When we reported this to Resortquest, they gave us 2 little roach traps and told us they had no other rooms to move us to. No apologies, no discounts, nothing.\n\nThere are dozens of other properties in the area - avoid this one.
I had talked to resortquest 3 times requesting a nice room with AC in it. It was my honeymoon, it meant a lot to me that we had a nice condo with AC in it. The staff told me over the phone they would do there best to accomdate us. When we arrived to our room. It smelled like hot onions, it was about 94 degrees, the room had dirty furniture in it. I was so overwhelmed! I called the agency right away to see if I could get another room. They were rude and had no compassion that it was our honeymoon and that I had already requested in advance a room with AC. She said to bad we are all sold out. By then I was very upset! Needless to say our friends luckly were on vacation in maui and let us go sleep on there floor of there hotel room that night. online travel website did hep me out and get us a different hotel. Thank goodness!
Hotel is across the street from Kamaole Beach II, which is convenient since parking there can be a problem. It is also in walking distance to casual dining. Each unit is individually owned & rented through property management, so the decor varies greatly & some units really need updating. Our unit had ceiling fans, but no A/C. We would have selected a different location if we had realized that. July is hot & humid.
We were a little concerned this condo was only 2 star. But it turned out to be great! Great location, very clean, close to everything (dining, beach, shops, grocery stores). The whole property was very well maintained (landscaping, pool, tennis courts).
We stayed at Kihei Akahi for the 2nd time. It is convenient to restaurants, shopping, beaches (our favorite is Keawakapu near Wailea). It can be a bit noisy at times but earplugs at night make it easier to take! Great view of the ocean & extremely affordable stay in Kihei. Grounds are well kept, pools are small, nice, quiet.
