Knoxville Vacations

First occupied by the Woodland tribe of hunters and trappers from around 1000 BC, Knoxville later became the home the Shawnee and Creek for a brief period. European settlers moved into the area around 1786, and the city was named Knoxville in 1791 in honor of an American Revolutionary War general. Places of interest include plenty of museums including the Museum of East Tennessee History along with several historical places like the Armstrong Lockett House and James White Fort. Nature fans will love Cades Cove and Cherokee National Forest and for the kids there's the Knoxville Zoo and Dollywood, a theme park with rides and activities for the whole family.
