Cons:
Soon after renting the car one of the tires went flat. The local office of Avis in Huatulco Mexico did not have a replacement tire, so we could not use the car for 24 hours. The next day at the garage the tire was found to have a small leak along the outer wall of the tire. Our view is that it was already there when we rented the car. The Avis representative said that they would not take responsibility, and that we had to pay for a new tire (they would not accept putting a patch). Outrageous. They then charged us a late return fee for a full day for bringing in the car 45 minutes late. There had been an accident 200m in front of the airport, and no cars could enter for 1.5 hours. My company has been renting from Avis for years, but it is clear that some of their agents in non-US countries are greedy and short-term thinking about customer service.
