got there thinking it was an 'ALL-INCLUSIVE' resort booked for 1 week and upon our arrival we ended up paying another $* for the 'All-Inclusive' package bc we were on a European Plan [EP] be cautious when booking with this resort ---- for people with money to burn LITERALLY!!!!!!!! The kinds that light up their cigars with $*bills and people who own mansions with golden toilets!!! front desk customer service were money hungry lions oh and not to mention that YELLOW faucet water was DISGUSTING I was afraid to brush my teeth in case I caught Salmonella or an Ameba!!! and BTW do not plan on having fun during your stay it mostly caters to the older population so if you are not soon to retire do not consider this place and even worse is the DANGER outside the resort lots of crime and poverty it is GHETTO FABULOUS! disappointed customer :I

I went with my 24yr old son. We enjoyed the natural beauty of Casa de Campo but I think we missed a little bit of night life. Unless you went to La Marina (after 11:00 pm everybody starts leaving) or Altos de Chavon(the discoteque starts after 11 pm there was no other place to hear music (at least for younger people. Other than that I enjoyed the trails for my jogging, the beautiful beaches and the neat golf car that the hotel provides. I wished to have stayed longer as to enjoy other activities that the hotel offer. I was mostly visiting a friends house which is in Casa de Campo, so hopefully I will visit Casa de Campo again, though maybe I will stay in one of the villas which are so beautiful.. I do think that the hotel needs a little face lift. My fiirst stay at the hotel was twenty years ago and it shows that the years have gone by.

This resort was wonderful. The beach was absolutely gorgeous and huge! It took 5 minutes to walk the stretch from one end of the resort to the other. The food was top-notch - we tried 4 of the 7 restaurants while we were there and all the food we got was delicious! Tip - ask for recommendations - some of the plated meals at the restaurants were better than others, and the wait staff were able to easily point you in the right direction. Also, my husband is a big guy and learned that he could order 2 appetizers if he wanted to, which made him very happy. We did end up with the preferred package, which actually offered a lot of perks. We had our own private pool (with pool bar), our own private area on the beach, and a 'clubhouse' that we could go to for appetizers and drinks. We were there during march madness, and the clubhouse was extra nice because we could go there and get a prime couch spot to watch a couple of games. The bartender in the preferred club was also very good - he remembered my husband and my dad (we also travelled with my parents) and came and asked them if they wanted the same drinks each time we walked in. Speaking of bartenders, they were all very good - they made delicious drinks (try the drink of the day), were willing to customize them, and knew a wide variety of drinks (we ordered Caipirinhas and every bartender knew how to make them). Overall, this resort was wonderful, and we had a really great stay.

This resort was very large, which didn't bother us (more food, pool, and beach options), but could be a downside for some. The only thing that was slightly annoying was the number of people they let into the resort to sell you things. At other all-inclusives I've been at, they limit the sales function to the lobby, and at Dreams, there were people by the pool and on the beach walking around to try to get you to go on excursions. They were not overly pushy, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience. There is also an office in the resort where they try to sell you timeshares. One of the staff in the lobby tried to get us reeled in, but was willing to let us walk away (she was a little bit more pushy than the others who were selling things, but we only heard from her once - she didn't come up to us again after we walked away). Again, it's not the end of the world to say no and walk away from anyone trying to sell you something on vacation - it just may be a bigger deal to some people than to others.

Customer service was excellent. The staff was trained to accommodate any requests. Also the food was excellent and the selection of food was extensive.

At times vendors trying to sell time shares, excursions, etc. were a little intrusive, but probably not outside the limits when compared to other resorts.

I traveled from Toronto, Ontario, Canada and stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe La Romana from Saturday, January 19th, 2013 until Saturday, January 26th, 2013. On the Monday morning (January 21st), I woke up with a really bad stomach ache (in addition to having nausea and abdominal pains) and had to run to the washroom several times because of diarrhea. By this time, the only thing that I had eaten was food from the burger bar because our flight had arrived around 11PM on the 19th (didn't have too much food to choose from - ended up choosing nachos which seemed to have expired cheese over it and mediocre boiled hot dogs) and on the Sunday we ate at the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was traveling with one other person and he did not seem to get sick (until near the end of the trip). I'm not sure if it is something with the pork or beef as my travel partner only ate vegetables, chicken and seafood. My abdominal pains, nausea and diarrhea lasted for about 4-5 days, which res...

Prices are either the average per night price per room or first night of stay. You can select to display the prices with or without our estimate of taxes & fees (which may not appear on provider's booking page but will be charged at hotel checkout). Before you complete your reservation, verify the total cost on the provider's site. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tons of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.

More questions or if you have a bad price to report to us
Please send us an email and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
