Rude registration staff, unfriendly bar staff and put in smoking room after requesting non-smoking room.
Rude front desk staff at night.
Construction noises, smell of room, help from staff r all bad
The location is great. Walk a few steps outside of the casino and head towards the Fremont experience. The staff were also very friendly in the few times we had to interact with them.
The beds. Absolutely the most uncomfortable beds I've slept in in over 20+ years. That one thing gives them a black eye in my book to where as much as I liked the place I wouldn't come back due to waking up every day with a sore back.
The beds were like a sheet covering a pile scrap metal! They killed my back! Won't stay there again!
Public hair found in shower
This place is super cheap and really it is fine. I'd definitely stay here again.
I will never stay there again. They had buckets in the stair way due to the rain the roof was leaking. Its very old needs updating!
The room decorated classic. The stuff are friendly. Fremont street is more likely a place for local, it is more fun than The strip. The saftey guard in side building is fun. The front desk of side building is very easy going, She was so suprised that we come 2am and leave at 5am.( maybe next time, we will slower down. But 1st time in US, time never enough)
did not like paying a resort fee. I do not feel this is a resort. No pool. I do not need internet so feel I should not pay resort fee. It is better to have one price so a person knows what they are paying up front.
The hotel staff was really rude and short with me. I understand that I went at a busy time but that is their job, not once was I rude back I kept a smile on my face the whole time but did not get one back..that was a disappointment but other than that the stay was great!!
everything was fine
The room was a nice size. And had two beds plus a love seat and a table with chair. We were only steps away from the entrance to the Life is Beautiful festival which was amazing they have $0.50 roulette which is where I spent most of my time and money
The shower was nice but not easily accessible. It had an open glass doorway but you can only turn it on by reaching into the shower. And the door being by the toilet made it hard to get in. Just a bad design but other than that everything was wonderful.
we stayed in the pavilion suites it was like been in prison it was on 5th floor above the car park the wall were paper thin you could hear everything north/east/south the music stopped at 3.30am from freemont st. and west the maid knocked us up at 8am when I put a no service required on the door DO NOT stop in the pavilion suites .the tower suites are 100 times better
Very clean room, very good for price
Staff was not nice nor helpful casino smelled a bit odd
The price was amazing. The location was close to downtown. The check in people were very friendly. I stayed in the tower and the room was just fine. The restaurant was reasonable. If you're over 50 they discount food. It isn't a new and modern casino hotel but for the money it's a fair deal. I can't really comment on the gambling. I'm not really a big gambler. I was in town for the entertainment.
The newer casinos have super high ceilings and better air filters than the older places with lower ceilings. It was a little smoky for me.
I love that its in old Vegas very entertaining always enjoy staying at the El Cortez
I didn't like that my room didn't have any view and our shower/bathtub was backed up. And our remote for our tv never got fixed. I have been here numerous times and this is the first time I ever had any issues
El Cortez is a great place to stay. It's very convenient regarding room, parking and Downtown strip. Consider that it was Labor day weekend, we booked it about 4 days before arriving to El Cortez, the room rate was at a reasonable price $74/night. This price can not be beat since it was a last minute trip, holiday weekend and everything worked out wonderfully.
Two things I didn't really like about El Cortez was first, our toilet was hard to flush. We literally have to put pressure down on the handle for almost 5 seconds in order for it to flush and secondly, the smell of cigarette smoke in the casino area is super strong. Wish they have a non-smoking area.
We have been coming back to the Cortez for a few years now, at least 2 times a year! We are greeted very well every time! Now they know our faces and our name! Try to stay on the north side of the tower if that is where you are staying...less Freemont St. noise. Great experience for me and my husband!
Bath is a little dated but it has its charm. At least I don't have to do a backbend to wash my hair!
Parking and rooms were closer than most hotels which was very pleasant
Found a cockroach by the mini fridge and towels were not readily available.
Tony at the front desk concierge was great. He helped me with my shuttle ride to the airport. Seems like a little thing, but for me it was so appreciated.
The bathroom sink was slow emptying. The electrical outlet near the bed didn't work. The lobby had a strong smell of smoke.
El Cortez staff is very kind and helpful. Casino floor is quaint and Classic. The food was good in casino. They also have a Subway located in casino. The hotel smells really good. You have to have a room key to be able to get to the floors with rooms and i liked that.
The rooms above casino are dated. In the room we got the bathtub had a broken plug that had been pulled out. The bathtub drained very slow.
1. Location - close to Fremont 2. Front staff was nice (they did ask for feedback and promised to give the survey to management)
Everything else... 1. Bed was really lumpy 2. Room was dirty 3. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke 4. No second lock on door (door faces outside) 5. Airport transportation is EXTREMELY limited (taxi is $41) 6. Resort fee - only $10, but for what? 7. No noise insulation - you hear everything in Fremont all night long 8. Except for a couple of pictures on the wall, I don't think the room has been updated 1963.
Location great for Container Park. Be aware there is a resort fee, but no pool.
Beds were good.
The cabana suites stuff is super nice and polite. Quiet and very clean. With the casino just across the street
The restaurant people are very rude. There hit or miss if you want take out back to your room. They sometimes don't let you do it...I think cause here lazy. The rooms are nice and I always request a high floor and I notice I never get it. I feel like they do it on purpose. Valet is always full also.
Just minutes away from freemont st
Needs to be updated had a lot of elderly people in it the people matched the casino with the age for sure
All of the rooms on Fremont were overpriced the weekend of my birthday. So we ended spending $100 a night for the El Cortez. It was horrible. During the check in we asked if our room had a view. And were told we had an excellent view of Fremont st. When going to our room we noticed we were no longer in the hotel, we were in a motel outside of the casino. We reached our tiny FILTHY room , which had a view of a Coke machine. That's it. A wall and a coke machine. The bathroom shower didn't drain, the water smelled of sulfur, the corners of the bathroom floor were black and full of buildup. The bed was hard as a rock and after seeing the floors, I didn't feel like i coukd trust that it was clean bedding.
Rooms looked nice, fridge. Close to freeway and the strip
No microwave, very poor amenities. The wifi was terrible, called front desk and issues, was told would send someone up but no one showed up. Beds were too firm, and there was a plastic plate covering a hole in the shower that sank in when you stepped on it - felt a little unsafe. Also the sink would gurgled every night and the roof of the room creak constantly.
We did not appreciate housekeeping banging on our door at 9 AM asking if we were leaving. After a late night out, we were still asleep, rudely awakened. I got up to answer the door and asked them what time check out was; they responded 12 noon. I told them we'd be gone by then. This was unacceptable behaviour.
Location to downtown Las Vegas. If you're interested in Fremont street It is in the middle of everything.
Very outdated. Uncomfortable bed. Stained couch. No outlets except in bathroom. Outdated bathroom.
Great room for the price
Service was either great or appalling depending on the person. Most were great but a couple were pretty bad.
The pricing of the room per night was great for a busy 4th of July weekend.
The room is out dated! The bathroom is old and need reno.
the air conditioning
check out lady
I liked the location to Fremont street and clean
I didn't like the club playing music until 4 am, the tv and Internet not working, and no info on the deposit we had to pay.
You can hear the music from Fremont Street all night. Could not sleep because the bass was pumping all night. I complained to staff, but they didn't do nothing. They said they couldn't move me rooms. They said I needed to contact the hotel manager the next day. Stupid
Not worth the price. We thought everything was paid online, only to find that we had to pay another $100 to check in. We were not happy. And then we had to wear bracelets to get up to our room. Anyone without an ugly bracelets that looks like it came from a night club could not proceed up elevator
Terrible hotel. There are spots where people urinate in the hallway and there is a very strong smoking smell in the casino.
I think there are two parts to the hotel and I was in the motel part. Room was clean enough but didn't feel comfortable walking from the elevator to the room. Had security cameras but those only show what happened not stop it from happening. Are is not very nice either.
Parking was easily accessible.
The price and the people playing rap music until 2:30 in the morning. I paid $73 on line for my room and when I got to the hotel I was told I would have to pay another $11 "resort fee" and a $40 deposit. I was awoke at 12:30 to the sound of rap music and assumed it was coming from Fremont Street. It woke me up again at 1:30 and again at 2:30. This time I had to call the front desk and complain. I guess they looked in to it because about twenty minutes later it stopped. I will never stay here again.
I liked that the room was big.
The pillows were horrible the room smell like cigarettes I had a really bad allergic couldn't sleep at all. I had the worst experience at the restaurant. never again no even if the room it free
