The history of the hotel and lawrence, KS is fasinating.
Our room did not match the description of what booking.com listed... not even close. Booking.com also sent a confirmation of three nights (Thursday-Saturday); when we got to the hotel, we were informed we had a reservation for Thursday and Friday only.We booked our stay in Lawrence to be four days and three nights. Booking.com sent a confirmation for three nights (Thursday-Saturday); when we got to the hotel, we were informed we had a reservation for Thursday and Friday only. Saturday was our Wedding night and we had to scramble to end another hotel to stay in!!!! We will never use booking.com again. What a let down and lots of unneeded stress on a very important day!
The historic nature of the hotel gave great charm. The staff was excellent! We stayed here for a wedding with our children. The staff was WONDERFUL. They placed us on the same floor as other family members without even asking. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were 'ahhhh-mazing'. There was some street noise, but the hotel had a white-noise machine and earplugs in the room-though we did not use them. I would not only recomend this hotel, I would like to stay there again with just my husband and have a fun getaway.
great locationValet parking was a must at $10 per day as Mass Street is always bustling and on street parking impossible. So much to do just out the door.
The rooms were modern in an historic hotel, so that was great.
