Stayed for a weekend while I was in town for a wedding. Since I was short on funding for the trip I chose the Legacy based it's competitive price and location (it's right in the middle of downtown Little Rock, although downtown isn't very large) Other reviews led me to believe the hotel would be a tad run down, however I accepted the risk and booked anyways. The Hotel does show it's age, however it does have that old-timey charm that makes places like this a "boutique hotel". My room was in good shape, clean, and free of defects like peeling wallpaper, missing lightbulbs and leaky faucets. Also had a microwave and fridge, a nice little luxury for the cheapest room in the place. The lobby seemed well decorated to illustrate the hotel's past and the staff at the front were most friendly and helpful. It's not the Ritz, but much more homely and welcoming than a Motel 6. Overall a good Value. Would absolutely reccomend if you need a cheap place to stay in Littke Rock.
Eating facility & food is thumbs down
The hotel has character and ambiance. The lobby is beautiful and my room was well appointed. The staff was helpful and friendly. I absolutely loved the food served in Filibuster's (the bar/restaurant). It was phenomenal! The staff freshly prepared the dishes from original recipes. Truly a wonderful experience!!!
There were only two issues that, one of which was addressed immediately. The toilet in my room would not flush -- maintenance arrived quickly and corrected the problem. The other issue is that the main areas of the hotel were not adequately air conditioned. It was about 90 degrees during the day and the hotel lobby and restaurant/bar were uncomfortably warm. However, the air conditioning in my room worked very well!
Love the history of the hotel. Lobby is beautiful! Location is amazing! And you couldn't ask for muxh more for the price. Will probably always be our choice hotel in Little Rock. The staff is always very nice.
Needs some major updates. Even if they don't have the money for updates it needs to be kept cleaner. And simple things like the stair railing need to be fixed. If it was kept cleaner it would come off a lot nicer.
Knowing the rich history made my stay a pleasure. The patina that comes with age is irreplaceable. Reminiscent of European boutique hotels. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect.
The hotel is old but it was nice and quiet. Staff was friendly. Had a big balcony.
Location - decor
Breakfast was poor - courtyard was neglected
Overall, we were very happy with the hotel & prIce & would go back. The room was on the 5th floor, non-smoking, king-sized bed. Room was clean and spacious with a couch/love seat, sitting chair, desk, refrigerator, and microwave. I can tell if it was a smoking room previously, and it wasn't. Electric outlets were conveniently placed. We turned the AC down to make it down to 65°, and it did without running nonstop. TV was a smaller 30" but servicable. Bathroom was adequate size and clean with clean, fresh towels.. It had a couple of closets.Parking was dedicated to the hotel and is surrounded by a tall black painted steel fence. This was Memorial Day Weekend and parking wasn't a problem. Not sure how full the hotel was though..I left an OEM cell charger to an expensive phone on checkout. I called about an hour afterward and the staff was bringing it down to the desk as other staff gave me a key to go check the room. Didn't need the staff much but they were helpful and courteous when I did need them.
I wouldn't rank the negatives as all that important. They are more like things that could maybe be better. As you approach the hotel, the loading/ unloading area isn't big and it's very close to the Capitol Ave. entry & exit. Back in the day the front door probably faced Capitol. In other words, even having been in the lot before, my 1st inclination was to find a parking space. The parking space was on the far side of the lot while the check in was close to Capitol. The path from the South Lobby to the main lobby is a maze like, tortured path. Just use the main entrance. Maybe i could have made hauling luggage easier but i didnt know if i'd risk losing my parking space. The common areas were musty and a bit warm but it wasn't that big of a deal since we weren't hanging out in the hall or the Lobby. Ice & concessions were on the 4th floor... if elsewhere, idk, South Lobby/ catering area maybe. if it was summer hot & that was the only machine, it might be an issue. Pillows were ok but if your partner wants a bunch, you better call for more. there were 4. Carpet was older but was clean & no oders or stains.View we had was ok but I suspect that there are only a couple of alright views because of surrounding buildings. Dont go expecting a good view.
Good deal for comparison to other hotels in the area. Close to many downtown attractions. Free parking, friendly staff. Room attendants were very professional and considerate. Tip them if possible.
Breakfast was mediocre.
The history of this hotel. How they preserved the old ness and its beauty while keeping it modern. The old staircase. The wooden elevator. The carpet and decor. Just beautiful and very clean. Staff is exceptionally nice.
My only downside is the restaurant bar onsite is not open very often.
It had a lot of character. With a full renovation, it could be a very nice place
The hotel is very much a work in progress, with a lot of things in need of replacement or repair, both in the room and in the facilities overall (e.g., the luggage cart was falling apart, a drawer handle came off, the little fountain on the patio had moldy water in it).
Charming lobby. Staff was pleasant. Good location.
Rooms were very old & dated. Hallways looked a little dirty. Beds were clean. Bathroom small. For the money it was ok.
It was a well maintained and historic building with a wonderful ambience of a bygone era.
Musty smell. Poor breakfast
