This lovely, old stone building is at the foothills of the Black Mountains amid beautiful countryside and views of the Brecon Beacons. It has a restful feel, comfortable rooms and a free Wi-Fi zone. The oldest part of Black Mountain Lodge is believed to date back to the 17th century. It has ample free parking and a bar and restaurant open from 18:00 to 21:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. From Sunday to Thursday, it is open from 18:00 to 21:00. The Lodge is in the village of Glasbury, between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, and is ideal for a peaceful country break. A wide of range of activities is available in the local area.
Easy to find. Welcoming and helpful staff. Quiet location. Nicely decor. Good shower over bath. Good breakfast.
Very Small room (twin room also had bunkbeds tucked in) with small windows which made it dark and cramped. Only one bedside lamp. Although shower was great, height and angle wasn't adjustable as it was a fixed overhead, 'rainstorm' type which meant getting hair wet whether wanted to or not!
Service, food, hospitality excellent.
Shower in room was faulty - reported to staff. Exterior signage to hotel is impossible to see at night!
Quiet, clean, pleasant surroundings, good breakfast, nice helpful staff.
None - apart from no evening meals Mon - Thurs.
Clean, Impressive condition of the staircase and the function room, and the restaurant.
If you are going to be a bit fussy, perhaps the room's lighting was a bit dim, but I rarely complain.
Quiet location, comfortable bed and very nice breakfast. The staff were friendly.
On arrival front door was locked and there was nobody to greet us. There was a couple of phone numbers to ring for someone to come. We tried but were unable to get network coverage. This I thought was inconvenient. It was only when another couple arrived, who were able to phone that this was resolved. While we were waiting we had time to notice that there were cobwebs around the front door and the windows.
