The staff were very helpful. The hotel was clean.
The standard of accomodation is very very basic. We couldn't turn our radiator off and were stiflingly hot all night. The hotel is on a busy main road and the noise of the traffic kept my son awake all night.
Very slapdash decoration, shared bathroom, shower didn't work properly (handle to switch between shower and bath was broken, shower head was broken so water came out of the sides, kettle was wedged on a shelf in the room making it very dangerous to try and get out when full of boiling water, no headboarda t end of bed so pillows kept falling off, no remote control for tv, very saggy mattress adn bed, now way to keep window open (room was far too hot when I checked in), carpet in room had stains and on stairs and landings was in need of vacuuming, ther oom smelt and so the next day so did my clothes, etc etc
Friendly obliging person (proproetor?). Sheets on the beds very clean and bedroom tidy. Basic but adequate furniture. Small television. Radiator nice and warm for heat on a very cold night.
No soap in bedroom or bathroom. I was given a new bar for each when I went to ask for it. This was before I realised that there were no towels in either place. I have never before stayed anywhere that did not put out at least one towel for a guest! Bedroom in semi-basement with steep steps up to bathroom. I did not get the feeling that the blankers were very clean, or the carpet (which was black by design). No bedside light on either bed. Bathroom/shower room pretty cold and not as clean as I would have liked. Mastic round the shower unit very messy. Paintwork peeling in places. Everything seems to have been done on the cheap and then rather neglected. Reception office looked as if it doubled as a rather untidy bedroom for whoever was on duty, and there was a friend keeping him company who was relaxed enough to be sitting on the bed having taken off his shoes.
value for money - clean
Excellent location, friendly owner, basic facilities but we were only looking for essentially a room to stay in after going to a gig and, as a budget option, the rooms we had were excellent value for money, clean, and better than expected. Can come and go as you please.
Bit noisy due to traffic but it is Kings Cross so that's to be expected.
Location was key, right next to King's cross, ideal for a gig or one night stay
Bedding could be improved.
You definetly need ear plugs, the trains going to Kings Cross can be heard all through the night.
Bed uncomfortable, made me itch, loud traffic noise due to single glazed windows, terrible service in the morning, reception left unmanned, very difficult to obtain a full vat receipt when I returned later
