Showing it's age
I really like the location. I had a very nice stay.
Close to restaurants. Check in was quick and friendly.
We had a handy capped room with shower only and water leaked into the rest of the bathroom nothing to keep it in shower area. Room was none smoking smelled like someone had shomed a cigar in it.
I loved the breakfast but you could get bigger cups.
staff is very friendly and helpfulfree buffet breakfast is wonderfulnice tv, nice sized fridge.Lots of sitting area and space to visit down by the pool.....excellent area!!motel was easy to find
the fridge had not been cleaned out from the guests who stayed before us (there were drinks and a take-out box in it).the bathrooms have no fans or heat lamps and the bathroom was so small.our room had a bit of a moldy smell to it.
The rooms were nice and the bed was nice
There was doors slaming all night long was very noisy all night the rooms were not sound proof you could hear everything hardly got any sleep was not happy
Restaurant was closed on Sunday, so we could not get room service or eat there.
It was close to our event, and the breakfast was awesome. They ran out of things but the workers were very nice and running around. The hotel was booked that weekend so lots of people.
The room was hot and hard to get to cool down. It was cold temps outside and the heating system is not one you can control really well in the room.
Staff was very rude. Tried to double charge me!
The kids had a blast in the pool - very nice common areas and the breakfast was awesome!!
Spiderwebs on the lights outside the room at pool area (minor) a little cool in pool area (Again minor)
Most helpful friendly staff I have seen in long time.
Distance from amenities like dining options
The entire hotel has an old feel and smell to it and needs updating. It was cold outside the the heater did not work in my room which I discovered in the middle of the night. The staff said that this happens frequently due to the age of the heat units.
It had rooms available.
The room was dated and we had some difficulty locating a free outlet -- finally found a multi-plug under the desk.
The staff was friendly. Enjoyed using the fitness center.
Housekeeping didn't make our beds or bring us towels on the second day. We had a sewage issue in our room the second night. It smelled like rotten eggs. The hotel was ful so they couldn't move us into a new room.
Location, it has a nice homey feeling.
Bathroom toilet is right in front of bathroom door, hard getting in and closing door. Room was not cleaned. Bed not made no fresh towels, ran out of toilet paper. Hallway way loud at night. Drains were very slow.
Room needs a lot of repairs. Walls crumbling, wallpaper missing, bathroom floor in need of repairs, lamps with cracks, etc.
The location was good. It was close to a lot of things in Marshall, MN
This hotel is listed as a 3 star but it is definitely not a 3 star hotel. 2 at most. The bedding is outdated and the bathroom was extremely small. We set the thermostat at 70 to keep the room cool and the fan would turn on and off every 15 minutes!
Nice room, and nice amenities.
The room was very nice but a little musty like the AC unit was not working appropriately. It felt very damp in room.
the breakfast was great but the location was easy to find with ample parking and the exercise room was adequate
during the night I could smell fuel oil
Spacious pool area to hang out with friends/family. Also the complimetary breakfast in the morning is great. I have stayed here 3 times, and the breakfast has been fantastic.
Hotel overall was outdated.
I liked that there was a restaurant connected with a bar.
The breakfast was not very warm. Second day was even colder. Variety was great.
It is right across the college
It could use an update
The fitness room was not very good. The treadmill didn't work & it was small & hot.
Close to what I needed to do
not very clean, old, staff so so
Although the bedspread reeked of spilled food, the bed was comfy. The shower head and water pressure was excellent.
It was dirty. The bedspread smelled of spilled food. I found a tick in the bed near my sleeping daughter. The bathroom floor was dirty.
The location and the attached bar.
The hotel hasn't been remodeled in many years- the walls are thin. Pillows are gross- bedding- gross! Can hear the toilet flush from other rooms. Just gross!
The free breakfast was well done.
They didn't give me the room I booked and said there was a wedding there, they were full and I couldn't switch.Furniture was stained with liquid, some rooms in our party had coffee makers, others did not.
the location and amenities.
The first room they put us in was back t back with customer laundry area. They exhausted the dryer vent into the fresh air vent that directly into our room. The front desk person was hesitant to change our room. It was very frustrating.
The location was great. We were there on a college visit for our son. It's right across the road from the college. The staff was somewhat disappointing. I called to ask about breakfast and was told,'The person who checked you in should have told you that'
The room wasn't thoroughly vacuumed. There were crumbs on the floor. Also the nightstand was dirty with spilled wine. I sort of felt like I needed to clean it before staying in it.
Not sure how this hotel stays open and not sure how it could be a 3-star hotel. The first room I had didn't have a working heater. The 2nd room I got was filthy. One bed had dog hair all over the sheets. There was also a live spider on the bed. The toilet was moldy and the ceiling of the bathroom was moldy. The floors weren't clean around the edges. There were trim pieces from the A/C unit laying on the floor. The TV was ancient. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again and probably won't stay at Best Westerns as long as they have these low standards.
I stayed at the Best Western in Marshall, MN, while traveling with my family. We originally booked here because it was the only hotel with a room left, though it was more expensive than the others, but the price was worth it. They had apparently done some extensive remodeling, and it shows. The lobby is both homey and classy. The staff was very friendly and accomadated our needs (they got us a first floor pool area when we'd originally-accidently-booked a smoking room). The kids enjoyed the pool. We liked the lounge; our waitress and bartender were friendly. I was especially impressed with the breakfast selection in the morning. We would definately stay here again.
We stayed here last summer (2008) and to be honest it was quite outdated. We came back again this year to find out there is new ownership and the place looks absolutely fantastic!!! They have done so many upgrades and their onsite restaurant looks amazing:) They are the only hotel I have stayed at that serves a 'free' hot breakfast buffet. The pillow top beds are awesome! Unfortunately, the excercise room was temporarily out of order for remodel. The servers and hotel staff were very friendly and were quick to answer any questions we had. If you go to Marshall, you should definately stay here.
I have used this hotel for 14 yrs and the staff has always been helpful and pleasant, but the usual manager was not their this trip. I found the staff less communicative this time around, and the restaurant was lacking and nearly non-existent. We were in a non-smoking room, but smoke poured into our bathroom via the vent from the bathroom nextdoor. Our dividing wall between the 2 rooms did not connect with the ceiling entirely from the center of the room to the outside wall. Noise was VERY loud from the next room, even though they were not speaking loudly. I actually awoke from a sound sleep thinking someone was in my room. During the night, I could actually see light from the room next door at the ceiling joint. Brkfst was adequate, but was served in the bar which was dirty both mornings and not pleasant. Scattered, dirty tables, no place to set dirty silverware, food choices so-so but supply low. Former restaurant was gone and we ate in what appeared to be the dance/karaoke area of bar used for receptions. Too bad, as it had been a nice restaurant! Hotel overall is still nice and location great.
This was one of the worst places we have ever stayed in. The room air conditioner didn't work and the tub was broken. The pool was extremly cloudy, and the whirlpool didn't work. They also never had towel available at the pool, even when you would ask at the desk. They allow pets to stay here and then do not clean up any messes they make in the stairway and hallways. They have little to no staff that keep up on the breakfast. There was continually no food available during breakfast. We had to wait every day to have any hot food. They couldn't even keep the essentials out like water. We had finally had enough and checked out of this hotel early!
Everything was wonderful. The staff were very polite, knowledgable and proficient. They room was clean and as described. The pool area was warm and inviting with windows and greenery. The complimentary breakfast was great. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection along with the tastiest sausage links. A perfect complimentary breakfast! We ordered room service from Shay's restaurant, which is onsite, the delivery was very quick within 20 minutes we were eating. We had the Prime Rib Dinner, the vegetables were fabulous along with the Prime Rib although mine was a bit over cooked (I like it medium). Would definately stay here again.
This was the filthiest room I have ever stayed in. The sheets were not clean. there were pubic hairs on them, along with a candy wrapper between them. There was also mascara on the pillow case. The bathroom floor had not been cleaned either. Otherwise if your only looking for a roof this place would do just fine. I don't expect this posting will ever be posted.
towels new fluffy, shower good water pressure, soft water, good continental breakfast.
