The hotel was excellent value for money. It was clean with excellent staff, who were most helpful. The best thing about the hotel is its location. Matala is excellent a cosy fishing village with traditional greek housing. Very few british tourists with excellent restaurants overlooking a most pleasent picture postcard setting. My only regret is that we did not book for longer.
really good apartments. Clean, spacious and comfortable.
We were extremely impressed with our room at Matala bay - it had just been decorated and was very nicely done, and twice the size we expected. We certainly didn't expect anything near as much for the price.
they could do with some new sunbeds!
Very helpful and friendly owners and staff. Good breakfast and evening meal nice view of pool from room
Very nice room and friendly staff
Shower was strange just a shower tray with no curtain so the bathroom got soaked
pool, suite size
breakfast, no mosquito protection
Room (not bathroom) was very nice and clean. Everything worked, a/c, safe, hairdryer, fridg all included. Walking distance to beach, shopping and restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful.
Food was terrible. Second night we skipped their super and went out even though we had half board. Breakfast not too good either. Shower was awful and difficult to use due to unusable curtain contraption. Lobby not air conditioned. One computer available for internet needed coins and reception desk would not make change. Location a bit out of the way and town a bit small.
We only stayed one night. It was close to town and beach, convenient to Phaistos and Gortyn.
The ceiling in our room was a bloody mosquito graveyard that needed to be cleaned. The breakfast was the worst we have experienced in quite some time: undrinkable coffee, a fruit punch claiming to be orange juice, a large basket of stale bread, a plate heaped with melting butter, corn flakes (we think), a table full of jam arranged to camouflage the dearth of other offerings, and the worst ham and cheese the proprietors could find. But the Germans in the room seemed happy.
The hotel has just been refurbished and the rooms are modern and comfortable. The bathroom had not been refurbished but was fine with a good shower. All the staff were great and the location was ideal for beach, restaurants and bars. The pool was clean with a nice bar. Would highly recommend the hotel.
