Boulan South Beach is ideally situated in the heart of the Collins Park neighborhood, the cultural and social epicenter of Miami Beach. The Collins Park neighborhood features the best dining, nightlife and the arts that Miami Beach has to offer. Within walking distance of Boulan South Beach are the hottest restaurant and bars, most fashionable shopping, and celebrated cultural establishments in Miami. All this, set amidst the gleaming backdrop of sandy beaches and the shimmering waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The one bedroom suite we booked turned out to be a huge apartment, clean and spacious. This is a fairly new property in excellent condition. Bed was reasonably comfy but not quite what you'd find in some big name chains. 2 TVs but only one worked. We also had an enormous balcony but unfortunately with a view of an array of a/c condensers! Kitchenette not equipped to prepare elaborate meals but fine for simple tasks. Miele combi micro/grill/convection oven, dishwasher, laundry machine and dryer provided. Excellent location if you want to be away from the pandemonium, yet close enough to walk to Lincoln and Ocean drive, 10-15 mins walk. Not beachfront, but very close to beach. No F&B outlets in the hotel itself but a nondescript restaurant streetside and around the corner from the hotel entrance was a part of the hotel. We however found the additional charges to be somewhat steep. The hotel charged an outrageous resort fee that only included use of towels and their private part of the beach 3 mins walk across Collins and a public carpark, as well a continental breakfast with a 'mandatory tip', we didn't bother. Supplementary internet charge per day allowed access for only ONE device. Exorbitant parking charge although there is easily available public parking immediately across the road. Staff extremely courteous and in all we had a pleasant stay at the Boulan.
I experienced a few problems. First, I arrived at 11 am and learned I could not check in until 3 pm. My usual experience is that I am able to check in at the earlier time and I had no warning of the 3 pm policy. Second, the room's internet did not work properly and this problem was sorted out only after 24 hours had gone by. Third, the hotel provides coffee and a continental breakfast, but it's not available until 8:30 am! I needed to be out of the hotel every morning by 7:30 am! On the plus side, the front desk people were very pleasant. By happenstance, the owner rode with me in the elevator, identified himself and asked if I was enjoying my stay. He was pleasant and professional.
I want to thank claudio at boulan for his effort and the staff for all the great service we received. This wa an amazing stay will come back
