My wife and I were staying in town for my best friend's wedding. The wedding day was a hot one in South Bend, the country club where the wedding reception was held did not have adequate air conditioning, leaving all of the guests extremely hot and uncomfortable. By the end of the evening my wife and I were looking forward to coming back to our hotel room, showering and going to sleep in the air conditioning. Unfortunately our night would not end on a relaxing note. We arrived back at the hotel at roughly 12:30AM, as many guests from the wedding did. We weren't in our room more than 5 minutes by the time my wife had hit the shower, and I followed as she removed her make up in the bathroom. As I showered we discussed the wedding, the day's events, the heat, etc. It was then that we thought we heard a noise. We stopped talking to listen closely. We then heard our phone ring. My wife went to answer it and was informed that it was the hotel manager and that we needed to come to the door. My wife quickly threw on clothes to answer the door, but the manager had already started to knock again. My wife answered the door and this is when we met Justin, the night manager. Justin's first words to my wife were 'I'm only going to say this once. I got a noise complaint about your room. If I get called again, you're leaving my hotel'. I thought I had to have heard this wrong through the bathroom door; as I can't imagine anyone, more so a manager, not introducing themselves when they are dealing with customers and just launch into a tirade. I cracked open the bathroom door, as I was nude, to listen to what was happening. Justin spoke to my wife as I do to my 5 year old son when I am scolding him. He went on to say how he received complaints on our room for noise, noise that would be associated with a party. When my wife tried to speak he continually would talk over, interrupt and walk away from her. Needless to say, my wife was in shock as he ended his speech with 'And next time a...
Very friendly & helpful staff. Close to everything - shopping, entertainment, lots of restaraunts. Very clean and well landscaped. Equipment in the fitness center (fan & elliptical) didn't work, but the pool was great. Complimentary breakfast was excellent, but not enough tables to sit down and enjoy it. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area.
Clean everything & Great Service + a full Breakfast. Extremely convenient to eberything South Bend has to offer
This is a great hotel. The people at the front desk are excellent, very friendly, and accomodating. The hotel is very clean, the service to the room was excellent. It sits back off the main roads and is very quiet. I would definitely stay again!
The friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel, the quality of the hot breakfast in the morning, makes this hotel one of the best in the South Bend/Mishawaka area. Definitively a place to stay. And the kids will love the cookies.
This hotel is unlike any other Holiday Inns we have stayed at. Most impressed with the staff and friendly caring service. They did not seem to take it just as a job, but that they genuinely cared. The fresh popcorn in the evening was a great touch and the family just loved the pool! The only thing i would ask for in future is to be able to hook up playstation. Kudos to the management and staff here!
When checking in to the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised at the decor, it was so different from other Holiday Inn Expresses we have stayed at. The only down fall was the doors were not electronic, but outside of that, the staff was the most friendly we have ever been at. Every single person said hello and made us feel welcome. The hotel was clean and breakfast was hot. The perfect place for us to stay again!! They all deserve to be recognized!!!
The worst. They need to retrain their staff top to bottom. I've never stayed anywhere that received so many complaints in one weekend. I had to ask repeatedly for something they offered to try to improve my room situation and still had to stop by mid-day to demand they follow through. I will never stay here again.
This is the perfect hotel. Price. Clean. GREAT BREAKFAST. Close to everything. Easy access. Notre Dame 15 min away. Mall is across the street. Many, many resturants. Perfect or as close to perfect as you can get. Staff: very friendly, knowledgeable of the area.
Great location for Notre Dame football weekends -- right off the Indiana Toll Road, and approx. 10-12 minutes from campus. Room was very clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast in the morning is very well done with both hot and cold items. The inside lobby area resembles a lodge -- nice atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. I absolutely will stay here next year.\n\n
The staff was wonderful, from check in to the breakfast hostess to housekeeping. The hotel has a lodge like setting, different from any other Holiday Inn express hotels. Very Clean facility. You will not be disappointed when you stay here.
We arrived at nearly midnight, with two adults and two teens. Our reservation was for a two-bed room, since there were four of us. We received a one-bed room with an apology that was the best they could do. They brought 1 roll-away bed, which left one of us on the floor. The next morning, there was no hot water for the shower. Management was unwilling to more than reduce our rate by 25 percent ($30). We will never visit a Holiday Inn again.'
