Montego Bay is a truly lovely town, set amongst Jamaica's finest natural scenery. Once an island in turmoil, with many of the populous of the western side of the island feeling neglected and threatened to secede, Montego today is a posh resort village with all the modern luxuries one could ask for. The town is surprisingly diverse, however, and near the gorgeous shopping centers and beaches are industrialized buildings and slum areas, creating an interesting and varied atmosphere. The hotels cater hand and foot for their guests, while the wildly friendly and festive atmosphere gives way for excellent service when out to dinner, and a fun and busy social scene.
