Loved the fireplace!!
Would have liked a small table for two.
Quaint and only one block away from fine dining and the wharfs. Easy to get to and to other locations.
Loved the room décor. It was really great the way they put the room together. Nice comfortable bed too.
Bed squeaked. If we had stayed the second night I might have requested a wrench to tighten the bed frame (metal)I would definitely recommend the Merrit House and will definitely be staying there on our next trip to the area.
Merritt House has a great location very close to the convention center, nice short walk to Fisherman's wharf, and on a not-so-busy street.
I had a good idea from other comments about the hotel. The only think that became a little bother was that the walls are thin and you could hear some sounds from adjacent room.Merritt House was originally the 1850's (+/-) residence of a government official (judge), and some of the hotel units are detached but on the same grounds. It's more like an inn, or bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay, and the homey feeling. Also, I like having my car parked just outside the door (although $15), so no bother to go in-and-out. TV's and furnishings are dated, but I didn't use them much anyway. The internet worked great, which was essential for me. Room, laundry and bath were exceptionally clean. I stayed in a King bed room, which I think makes a difference in size and location (it's upstairs, large, high ...
