We did not stay here, as we were overbooked. We were put up at the Royal St. Charles instead. I would give this hotel a four star rating. Glad we were overbooked after reading the reviews of the Hotel Dupre. Bill
The only thing right about this hotel is the location. However, there is no parking.
First, there is no parking. The staff can't even help you find parking. It will be a nightmare if the city is packed. The staff took forever checking us in. The elevator was broken. We had to use stairs that are opened to the street. This is dangerous when you are coming in late at night in New Orleans. The room itself was very old. The bed was very uncomfortable. The carpet and curtains were dirty. The bathroom was by far the worse. The ceramic title in the bathroom was broken. The cabinets look like they were left over since Katrina. The shower had other people's hair in it. Not at all worth what we paid.
This is a real review. My room was not ready at check in, the ac, shower didn't work. The elevator didnt work, we walked up the stairs via an emergency exit that remain open to the public, so anyone could get it.
They have to change the coats in the bed.
Dirty and to old
It has excellent location close to all main streets and places to go The rooms facilities are comfortable enough to take rest
The elevator was not up and running my whole stay June 13 to June 17, the staff told me; it is going to be fixed soon, never happen. The housekepper has not worked in my room for two days, until I request to do so No invoice was submitted at check out time
I didn't even complete my stay there because part of my ceiling started falling in due to the water copiously pouring through it. The building should be condemned.
The Price for the location makes a awesome home base. The staff are friendly and super nice - and huck finn's right next door is pretty good. Its definitely a good time because there are so many characters around so you meet people pretty quick. The staff are super accomidating as well if you need something.
they were doing renovations so the elevator was out, we did not request a king size early enough, so our room was drastically different than our previous stay. We had no windows, and it was like a a studio apartment, maybe even smaller, where when we had requested the king size before, our room was huge had a separate room with a couch - for that room that stay would have been worth it, but for the room we stayed in, I would have dropped another 50-100 to get a decent room. The safe was locked when we got in there - so we didnt want to tell them to come fix the safe, the lights were all broken. And its pretty loud in the hotel most of the night, but that is to be expected on Decatur. Also, the rooms are a bit dirty..
Well, like many of the reviews said, thdre were elevator issues. We ran out of hot water after one shower. But the price and location were the drawing points. I would stay there again. The ac worked, room was clean, and they offered to store our baggage after we checked out until we were ready to leave. That was awesome.
Elevator and hot water
No parking, person sleeping in the lobby, I had an actual key for my room which locked the door and deadbolt, I would have died in a fire. The shower was hard to figure out, the linens were old and cheap, the room was loud you could hear conversations from the street (I was on the third floor). The elevator was hit and miss and scary when it was working, the carpets were stained - badly in my room.
