We travelled to NYC over the March 1st weekend. All the staff were very friendly throughout our stay. We arrived early and had no issue with early check in. The room was very clean and linens refreshed daily. I found the hotel to be above average in these details. The bed was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows - it was like sleeping at home! However, I did have a couple of issues. My first issue was I had to ask for the coffee to be replaced. The room had been cleaned, and for what ever reason, the coffee was not replenished. This request took about an hour. Second, we had brought wine glasses up to our room for the bar, in other hotels I have stayed I have done this, and when the room was cleaned, the glasses were cleaned also. This was not the case - not a big deal, but I was a bit surprised. Lastly, at about 4pm I called room service, because I was in need of champagne glasses, as we wanted to have a glass of Prosecco. Room service was not in operation until 5pm. So I called the front desk and asked if we could have the glasses brought to our room, as we were in the process of getting ready for an evening out. The answer was no. We had to wait for room service to open. It made me wonder what would have happened if I needed an extra towel or blanket?? Regardless, we thought we would have the prosecco when we returned. Upon returning to the hotel (about 10pm) I walked to the front desk prior to going to the room, and asked to have the champagne glasses. Again the response was great, not a problem it would be sent up right away. We waited for over 40 minutes - no glasses ever arrived. We gave up and went to bed. While these are 'minor' issues - they were still very annoying. Were there things I could have done like called back down to the desk or gone to the bar myself? Sure...but as a guest I shouldn't have to. So to recap - Very Clean, very polite, very comfortable, quiet. But, the service end could be improved upon. One last observation: Just a tip - I...
The Marriott East Side has a perfect location, close to the theatre district, great shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The bell man helped us get cabs when needed and held our luggage after checkout so we were able to spend the day in the city without lugging our bags.
A/c leaked water on my suitcase soaking my wintercoat. At night a staff worker walked in the room w/out knocking, cleaning staff did the same in morning. Good thing I dont sleep naked. There was also black mold on the carpet. On the flipside the bed was extra comfortable.
I travel often and always do a lot or research on a hotel prior to booking one. I go into the city a handful of times of year and have stayed at various hotels but after my visit this past May, I will always book a room at the Marriot East Side. I took my sister for her 50th B-day and my sister-in-law and we were treated like Royalty! For starters, we got upgraded to a suite by the rooms Controller-we were SO excited! The customer service is the BEST! Then we had Champagne and strawberries delivered to our room! (Thank you Mariam) They did a great job renovating this hotel. The rooms are really beautiful, as is the entire hotel. Our beds were SO comfy and the room was very clean and spacious. For those not used to traveling to a NYC...the rooms are typically small but these rooms were larger than the standard NYC hotel room. The location is close to the theatre district and Central Park and Grand Central and the price is right. I hightly recommend the NY Marriot East Side (I even joined the Marriot Rewards Program). You gotta love Marriots! Can't wait to go back!
The staff was great. They helped with all our sightseeing questions. The room was beautiful. It was always clean, the beds were the best. There was lots of room to spread out. The location is great, close to lots, right on the bus line. I am sold on the Marriot brand!
I was super surprised by this hotel. It was roomy (not common for Manhattan at this price) and very affordable. The location was perfect for hitting up all the sites. I love New York and this hotel just added to the great experience we had.
for a marriott there were a number of annoyances which were totally avoidable: -there were four adults and a child in our group. even though i had a email confirming the booking, they did not have a room, and we were ''upgraded'' to a larger suite. I hate to think what the regular room was like! this room afforded no privacy, had only one tv and was advertised as a ''suite'' we werent checked in till 5 pm -no free internet access anywhere in the hotel, the ''common'' computer in the business center was 6$ for fifteen minutes, or 14.95/day in your room. -the bathroom door refused to stay shut unless slammed, and one morning we ran out of toilet paper, no spare left by housekeeping! -the bar had a mandatory 15% gratuity, not posted anywhere, regardlless of the bill
Cashed in the Marriott points for a long weekend stay at this historic hotel. Room was quiet and very clean, and the bed and bed linens were nice. Were given one of the smaller rooms on the floor, but still worked for the two of us quite well. Not too far to Grand Central to get the subway, but away from the frantic part of New York when it was time to sleep. For those with Marriott status, the club was quite nice, served a full breakfast, and had a small roof garden.
Not being familiar with Manhatten, I did not know what to expect from our hotel beyond being a Marriott. When we arrived, we were blown away by the location; right across the street from the Waldorf Astoria and in walking distance of many major attractions. We arrived very early and expected to leave our bags at the front desk until the afternoon; not so, rooms were available and we were allowed to check in at 10:00 AM! A first for me. The rooms were fantastic and the staff great. The lobby bar had a great atmosphere in the afternoons.
this hotel was gorgeous. the staff was tip top, very helpful concierge. the room was imacculate. the room we did book was not available. we asked for 2 queen beds. we recieved 1 king bed + 2 pull out beds. bu the time the 2 pull outs were set up there was no room to walk. we had to walk over the beds. overall the trip was easy, from check in to check out.
Great place to stay and discover all the entertainment around midtown. 1 block away from subway, walking distance from all shopping areas. Duane Reade and restaurants around the block. Restaurant (only one) in hotel is ok, rooms are clean and newly refurbished. Bathroom very good. No room mini bar but refrigerator available for personal use.nI would stay definitely another time.
I have stayed at this property three times within the last month and have been pleased with the consitent service, very clean rooms, and hotel. Great East Side Manhattan location on Lexington and 49th. THis property has the BEST beds for comfort / sleep! Newly renovated and pleasant staff! A must compared to other major hotel chains!
I stayed at the Marriot in January of last year and had such a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The room was kind of small for the four of us staying in the room but we were only there to sleep! The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean! I am planning to go back to NY in July and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else!
