Astor's Beechwood Mansion was built in 1851 for a New York City merchant named Daniel Parrish. The Beechwood Theatre Company is the in-house performance company that steps into character as the members of the Beechwood household during the height of the Victorian era while interacting with guests. Beechwood visitors hop into the script by taking part in one of the mansion's Living History Tours. The mansion also hosts Murder Mystery Tours, Beechwood Speakeasy, and Big Band Music.

Brenton Point State Park is located where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, tucked away just off of Newport's Ocean Drive. Brenton Point is comprised of vast valleys of rolling hills accompanied by the rushing beat where the nearby ocean meets the bay. There are roving concessions for the occasional quick snack. Restrooms on the premises and over forty picnic tables. Brenton visitors bask in picnicking, hiking, fishing, catching cool breezes, and breathing in epic views of the Atlantic.

Fort Adams State Park is the largest coastal fortification in America. Between 1824 to 1950 Fort Adams housed generations of United States soldiers, today the complex host special events including military reenactments, music festivals, and classic vehicle shows. Fort Adams State Park is just a short drive outside of town or via water taxi ride across Newport Harbor.

Newport's Kingscote Mansion, located on Bowery Street and south of Bellevue Avenue, the traditional area for the communities cluster of mansions, is reminiscent of the classic summer homes that families in the American South routinely flocked to in an effort to escape the blazing hot summers South of the Mason-Dixon line. The Gothic picturesque facility was built 1841 and is considered one of the coveted Newport Cottages. The establishment was acquired in 1864 by the sea merchant William Henry King, who furnished it with porcelains and textiles accumulated in the China trade.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame is housed inside of the Newport Casino. The International Tennis Hall of Fame began as the Newport Reading Room in 1880, today the large pavilion plays host to professional tennis tournaments. The courts are open for public play; reservations recommended between May and October. The International Tennis Hall of Fame is housed inside of the pavilion, and is of particular interest to avid tennis fans. An on-site restaurant serves lunch, sunset dinners, and weekend brunch to Tennis Hall of Fame visitors.

Newport sports a love of reddened fresh lobster and clam chowder that stays true to it's New England roots. Scales & Shells is an area fish house where diners in search of elegance with their seafood dinner can head upstairs to the "Upscales" room. Scales daily menu, meticulously jotted down on blackboard, list a number of fish and shellfish dishes cooked to preserve their natural flavor. Diners flock to "Newport's Only Fish Restaurant" for the fish, and the sizable portions. An appetizer of calamari yields enough of the popular dish to feed up to four. Over three centuries old and still going strong. The White Horse Tavern claims to be the oldest operating tavern in the United States. A fireplace that was historically used for cooking, a bar, and two dining rooms make up the White Horse's first floor. The White House boasts an eclectic menu filled with dishes like Maine Crabmeat Sausages, House-Cured Atlantic Salmon, and Iced Shellfish Salmon. Daily Lunch Specials. Fun neighborhood eats are tops on the menu at Jack & Josie. Named after the owners dogs, the restaurant moonlights as a luncheonette/sports bar/innovative Internet cafe. Computer terminals may be rented for $10 an hour. There are three black-felt clad pool tables and several plasma televisions. Jack & Josie's menu consists of several soups, salads, and appetizers like Stuffed Mushrooms. The Jack," thin slices of sirloin with caramelized onions, fig compote, and arugula saga blue cheese. The Newport Visitor Information Center is located at 23 America's Cup Avenue. The Center is open daily 9am-5pm, seven days a week. The Visitor Center is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Information specialists assist travelers with their destination planning needs in addition to providing Newport visitors with free maps & brochure on local events, lodging, shopping, dining, and attractions.
