We rented a 4 bedroom private house with a pool that was supposed to be heated. After getting our house location and going to get into it, we discovered it was a 3 bedroom condo with no pool other than a community pool and no play area for our 3 young kids. We called them back and the person working there said he would call us back. No call so we went over to the office and they were closed and would not answer the phone. Finally the person called us back and said they would have no house for us until Monday, 2 days away. Monday morning comes and we go to the office and sit there for 2 hours. Finally the same person comes to us and says we only have a townhouse but it has a pool, no it was a hot tub! He comes back and shows us the only other place another townhouse but with a pool this time. We ask about the pool heat the person tells us he will turn it on himself we he meets us there. At 6 pm we finally get in and the maid is still cleaning he shows up, we ask about the heat and he went in the back of house and act likes he does something. Needless to say no heat for the pool, kids do not go in it at all ( at least 65 degrees) and lied to by them at least 4 times. We also met someone that checked in after hours and they got the same thing we ordered but got what they paid for. At least 2 hours after us. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
The size of the house was adequate. We felt very comfortable. If I had a choice I would have liked a closer location to orlando and sites. It does say 10 miles to this and 8 miles to that, however in that traffic certain times of the day were very challenging to get to and from. When I arrived there was no cable. Verizon suspended the account due to an outstanding balance. However the cable was restored in two days. The pool was very cold, apparently that is an extra cost to have the temp raised before arrival. Overall it was very good. Just clean up the little things..
This was my first time reserving with American vacation homes and I was very pleased. The house was not far at all from the theme parks. The beds weren't so comftable but they weren't a problem. The down part of the house there werent nearby resturants or stores but Overall the house was very clean and maintained and not far away from the theme parks.
Vacation home was much larger than expected; we rented a three bedroom but ended up with a five bedroom. Lovely layout; well equipped home. Beds were comfortable (and we had plenty of selection)! Home was situated directly in front of a community orange grove; the scent was delightful. Fresh squeezed OJ, every morning, with juicer supplied in our home, was an unplanned bonus. Pool was small, and cool, despite increasing pool temp. Would definitely recommend to others!
Upon arrival our condo was not ready nor did we have an front door code, but within minutes we were upgraded to a home with a private pool at no extra charge. The home was nice, clean and updated. A very relaxing place to spend spring break. I would definitely book another vacation with American Vacation Homes. For the price of an Orlando hotel , you get much, much more.( living room, kitchen, mutliple baths, private pool, dining room, garage, etc. )
We loved staying here. The customer service was great the home was very clean and for the amount of people we were we saved so much money!! I recommend it to anyone!
By comparison, good value for a large family. Full kitchen and washer/dryer to save some money on eating out and laundry. Nice sized safety gated pool (we had cooler temps during our stay so we didn't use the pool much). Garage to keep car covered but, no garage door opener. Well maintained gated community. Good sized house - four bedrooms and three bathrooms; although, the master bedroom was the only room to have an ample sized queen bed. The other rooms either had a full or twin beds, which wasn't as comfortable to larger adults. Only two TVs in the entire house, an average sized one in the main room and a small one in the master room. On the down side, you aren't provided with the location of your house until the day you check in. So it can be located anywhere in the Orlando area. Fortunately, we were given a house central to the airport and attractions. Additionally, you aren't provided with the extra amenities of a resort which means you have to bring or buy things like shampoo, sponges, dish/dish washer detergent, laundry detergent, coffee/filters, paper towels, etc. They do provide the small soap bars for the bathrooms, toilet paper, 1 roll of paper towels and 1 tablet for the dishwasher. Also, the house wasn't as clean as we'd prefer but, probably no more dirty than any other well travelled hotel (even though as part of your fee you are charged a cleaning fee). The carpets looked like they could use a good cleaning and lamps in the rooms didn't work. One last thing, you're asked to provide a $250 deposit that's charged to your credit card and not returned for 30 days. As of this writing, I'm still waiting for the credit.
We arrived on Monday afternoon. The next morning we left around 9.15 for a day trip to Universal Studios. We returned around 9.30 pm that night to find out that the home had been broken into while we were gone. We still believe that we were wachted as we left, since the break-in occured before 11 am. The sliding door wall had been reomved from its track to allow access into home. Only our belonings were taken (about $2000.00 worth of items). Management had left a note for us to call them so they could arrange to move us into a different home. The Sheriff's dept. had also left paperwork for us to fill out. We agreed to me moved and were told to call the next morning to deal with the paperwork, since management had already left for the day. We started calling early the next morning and left many voicemails, but were never called back. We finally got tired of waiting (it is now 2pm and we have waisted a day, waiting by the phone!) and drove to the office. We were told that the lady would be right with us, but after waiting for 15 minutes we were told that she was on her lunch break and could not see us. We told them that we would not leave before speaking to someone. Finally the boss came out and agreed to meet us. He told us that by providing us with a different home, they didn't see the need to do any further follow up with us. He told us that he would call before we were to leave Florida, but that never happened either.\nPlease, be aware, ask to be put in a gated community. This event ruined our vacation. Break-ins happen, but managent was awefull!
