good place very helpful/friendly staffs
Hotel St. Merry should be considered as a cultural visit to the past. It is a small piece of re-purposed space from the corner of an old church connected. North Americans will be "amused" at the compactness of the entire structure but should understand that for the price it is well situated in the 4th district with quick access to Paris central. The staff are very friendly. There is no elevator.
Perhaps a little more attention to detail in cleaning. Though all fixtures are quaintly original and authentic some require new fabric as in the case of lamp shades. This is mostly regarding "soft furnishings". We liked the sheets but not the bed covers...duvet's would be more appropriate to the ambiance.
Good location. Nice restaurants near by and walking distance to main attractions. Room interior decoration in historic style. Very helpful staff.
Little noise from street.
The location is pretty decent, though it can be noisy at weekends.
The hotel has no record of my four-day booking, and told me my confirmation email was "impossible". They found us a room after several hours, but we had to change after the first night. Rooms are very small and dusty, and we had a steep 81-step climb to get to them. The "deluxe" room, where we stayed for our first night, was pretty tatty and noisy. The "standard room" was in slightly better condition, and away from the road.
Its atmosphere and entirely unique style. Its staff who are unobtrusive yet keen to help. Will book at Saint-Merry again because we've visited several times over the years and are fond of it, but could not yet recommend to friends for reasons below.
The lack of lighting in our 3rd floor room with a window overlooking other windows. Even though the room had no direct outside light many of the lights were either not working or had 'dead' bulbs in them. A lot of mending needed on wooden furniture and on electric plugs - no janitorial upkeep apparent.
